Perhaps pappachuk could find something to do to be a part of Burning Man, that's more useful than just trying to build yet another plug-n-play hotel-camp for tourists. Re: 10 Yr Environmental Impact Statement (Includes Relating to Culture)

It would be spectacular if the BLM Caps the thing at 50K right after the main Ticket sale. It would be absolutely hilarious, wouldn't it? But I suspect that the option is really in there to appease the folks that are opposed to Burning Man, and to provide a worst-case-scenario negotiating ta...

The really *fun* stuff is in the Mitigation Measures in Appendix E of Volume 2 of the report. These proposals would apply whatever size the event is limted to. Draft Mitigation Measure : PHS-1 At all portals of entry into the Event, beginning 14 days before Labor Day, BRC will be required to contrac...

The camp has a Facebook page, named "BurningmanXX", and an Instagram page (full of generic pretty-people photos that they've taken from other sites) named "burningmanrus". From what I can see, it sure seems to look pretty much like the stuff that Marion was drawing attention to in her "Cultural Cour...

Re: Fresh Spam Accounts

I have heard that there are phpBB plug-ins to target spam. Beyond that, there would be machine learning tools. Especially easy, because the spammers are simplistic. It would relieve mod time. Even maybe just a simple question at the end of the sign-up screen that they have to answer, like "name one...

Re: Plug&Play Camp PlayaSkool - Camp Probably intentionally left Moop to keep deposit and legally steal money from peopl

I am disappointed, but not surprised, that Trippi Longstocking chose to focus on Mario's original complaint about the LNT deposit, and to ignore what seems to be PlayaSkool's clear practice of commodifying Burning Man into a turnkey experience, and their failing to provide any significant (or any at...

From Reddit, Placement's response to someone (not me) that brought this to their attention ... Hi there Matt, Thank you so much for writing in about your concerns. Set and forget design with minimal work. Awwww ... cr*p! I'm a sucker for massively over-engineering solutions. It looks like I can get 1 3/8 OD sch 40 aluminum pipe for approx 3x the cost of using 1 3/8 OD fence top rail from HD ... which sounds like a potentially decent tradeoff of costs o...

Re: Flat Top Shade Structure Guidance + Am I Missing Anything?

Schedule 40 metal pipe is load bearing and is even more expensive. I use 1 1/4 “ (actual OD is 1.66”, 0.41” wall thickness) aluminum Sch40 pipe with Holleander speed-rail fitting. Way stronger than any conduit and even then I never go longer than 10’. Well that doesn't exactly sound like you're ful...

Re: Flat Top Shade Structure Guidance + Am I Missing Anything?

I'm thinking of a 14'x14' and wondering if I can get by with only 4 corner posts (?). If you *really* want 14' spans, then you might want to consider researching the use of 1 3/8" Fence Top Rail instead of 1" EMT. You can get that in 20' lengths (as a special order) at one of the big box stores, an...

Why not a graded licence/permit system? There's already the model for one in place. Congress banned the general sale of fully-automatic weapons back in 1934 ... but ownership and use of these weapons is still allowed, although heavily regulated, including background checks and storage requirements....
