Re: Hola from Seattle!! Virgin Burner (hopefully)

Hello fellow Lurker and Seattle-lite.. I live in NC now, but for almost 20 years I was in the Seattle, Tacoma, Everett.. Redmond area.. I hope to go in 2019 or 2020 as well. I would recommend that survival guide that is on the main page for the Burning Man. After that will be subject to budget and a...

Re: Hello and greetings.

Hey Theresa, Welcome to Eplaya and I hope to see you and everyone else in 2019... I'm also a burgin and long time lurker here.. I pretty much know what I need to do and pack and plan for but getting from North Carolina to Nevada is the biggest hurdle at the moment. If you have any questions you can ...

Re: Introduction and Adulation

Hey Nadinemo37 :) Yeah from what I have found depending on the service and if you have some kind of frequent flyer program through a credit card company or if this is just out of pocket... round trip tickets can cost from $3XX to $5XX, and that only plops you down in Reno. From there you have to get...

Re: Introduction and Adulation

Yeah it sucks that they moved to Cascade, WV... but if your in the NC area and your on a semi shoestring budget like me.. then Ignite! is only 4 hours away from onslow county (give or take 20 miles). Transformus from where I live is 8 hours away, which is far but I used to drive from seattle WA to P...

Re: Introduction and Adulation

Thank you SugarK, sorry for the late reply I had a bad case of Florence for a bit there and had to flee a bit inland. I live about 45 min from the coast and my family and I were not wanting to play chicken with Nature. Thankfully we are all ok and the home is too.. when we were watching the news on ...

Re: Introduction and Adulation

Well I'm still making plans, still saving my pennys... I still really really want to go and I have more realistic expectations of what will be needed to get there from my failed attempt in 2018. Finding and buying the gear, bags, water, non-perishable food stuffs not an issue.. Regular ticket price ...

Re: "Everyone comes to Black Rock City when they're supposed to" - L. Harvey

That has been me in camp envy many years now... I think they keep an old WWII cot in the back for when I come down to slum it. I am bound and determined to either go in 2019 or 2020. I feel you when it comes to the turbulent lifestyle changes and in my case life 'fiend fyre' that I feel I am battlin...

Re: Anybody ever build a hush box?

Remember that the main issues with making a good baffle is that it needs to provide proper ventilation and not get too hot. It's actually pretty hard to absorb sounds with materials. So when you build a baffle, and are trying to block the sound all around, it just isn't that efficient. It's better ...

... but i'm going to go to Burning Man and I have a STRONG feeling its going to be amazing and scary and beautiful and painful and soul wrenching and peaceful... and maybe I just want it to be all those things and more, I don't know but I want to. Maybe I'm just old and cynical, but you're sounding...

Re: Introduction and Adulation

Still reading everything, looking through the past subject topics, looking on the official BM website and looking through all the archives from 86 and on. I love how its evolved and grown more elaborate over the years and controversial changes that happened in '96 and '04 and a few other times. But ...

Introduction and Adulation

Long time curious lurker and admirer of the strange and exotic, I grew up with the hint of Burning Man and a whisker brush of curiosity but life and family took up most of my time and attention. I am 36 now, originally from Seattle WA and now in North Carolina near the coast (there's a culture shock...
