Re: Main Sale Discussion Thread 2018
Clicked the button in my profile no more than two seconds past noon. Had the little guy strolling across my screen for one hour and 26 minutes. On the final page - "Main sale tickets are sold out". The last time I went was 2001. I wanted to go one last time before the body wears out. I was so optimi...

Re: PVC adjustable fittings for custom angles?
Back in 2001 I used male/female adapters to join pipes and then bent the pipes. I do remember that when it came time for teardown, I needed vise grip wrenches to unscrew the joints. For 2018 I intend to design my shade to use straight sections of pipe as much as possible. Any change of direction to ...

Re: PVC adjustable fittings for custom angles?
Thanks for all the advice and comments! Kenshiro - what are the elements at the top of the verticals, that the angled pieces fit into? Do they allow for "easy" release on tear-down? [Edit - I did some research, so I know they're pvc unions. Interesting!]

PVC adjustable fittings for custom angles?
I'm returning to Burning Man after a 15+ years absence. I'll be using my experience from previous years to create my pvc shade structure for 2018. Does anyone here have experience with using adjustable pvc fittings, like these from Circo Innovations? Do they stand up to playa conditions? https://www...

Re: Returning after 17 years
Thanks everyone for the greeting and advice! I've given myself a technical challenge this year - designing a shade structure that will contain my one-person tent and various stuff, but with a major restriction - all straight pieces of pvc pipe, no bending. The first two times, I built my own shade s...

Returning after 17 years
Hi All - I've been to Burning Man twice, in 1999 and 2001. I fully intended to return, but various family, (un)employment, and work schedule challenges have kept me from returning for seventeen years. I'll be 63 in 2018, and I've been feeling the start of senior physical limits. So I've determined t...
