Re: PVC based shade structure over 10X14 Kodiak tent advice

Actually I have the vestibule addition for my entrance to the Kodiak tent. That effectively shades that side if the tent when placed facing the sunrise. I also have a 10x14 truck mesh type tarp that will occupy my west side.

Re: Driving Asheville NC to BRC, looking for copilot

I am leaving from Woodstock VA the 10tg to arrive in Reno the 18th to be on playa the 19th.
I'm driving a 14' flatbed Isuzu NPR. I could probably fit you and your gear on this truck. It would make her 4th journey to BRC.

Re: PVC based shade structure over 10X14 Kodiak tent advice

0728191344a_HDR~2.jpg I built this shade structure today. It's 10 feet tall and 24x24. The shade sail came from Amazon. It has a cable edge and steel corners. The poles are 1.5 " O.D. aluminum with 3/16 thick walls. I welded up my own eyes for the ratchets to attach. After laying the shade sail out...

What it's all about

Most Burners dont know this but for the past three years I have carved portraits with a chainsaw on playa in a sawdust containment cage so I don't create moop. In all my events I can claim more than 300 portraits and as many as 400..All my wood is sourced from trees taken down by residential tree se...

Re: Kodiak 10 x 10 Tent: Basic vs. Deluxe

I have a Kodiak 10x10 deluxe with the added vestibule option. Last year The dust storms were fairly predictable so so times it was great to sleep with this under a larger shade structure. The Windows front and back gave great cross ventilation with little or no dust. The vestibule faced the street s...

Re: Help! WTF???

It was part of my full proposal for an art grant. It was delivered to their P.O. on time to spare. They never bothered to pick it up from the Post Office to the ORG.
No one's are deserves to be treated with this level of disrespect.

Help! WTF???

WTF is going on with the org? I submitted a model with my art application for the honoraria. There is no one who seems responsive nor responsible.

This is like submitting a grant application with half of the information purposely deleted.

Is this normal?

What can I do about it?

Consider the gauntlet dropped!

in the spirit of John Henry taking on I-Robot, Ziggy Sawdust (with his chainsaws from Mars) challenges any and all technologies to produce a relief portrait of a sitting model. Yes that's right man (with chainsaw) against machine!

Re: HEY!!! @%$#^&!!!

Thanks Token! I always seem to reach for another challenge. This one could be a big one. I live in the Shenandoah valley of Virginia. I'm about 100 miles due west of Washington, DC. I've been weighing these options. Finding a service that does type 2 in gold with a tank large enough to accommodate t...

Re: HEY!!! @%$#^&!!!

All the parts that are goldish in color are intended to be anodized aluminum. It will weigh less than 5,000 lbs. That's about the same weight as two cubic yards of gravel.

Re: HEY!!! @%$#^&!!!

I think it far more wasteful to build art for the Playa alone. If the idea is worth building then its worth building with some permanence. Also it serves the playa better if work shared there has a life beyond Burning Man AND it serves Burning Man to share with the world. We live in a Dixie cup worl...

Re: HEY!!! @%$#^&!!!

I've been exploring the home anodizing kit and for single onesies and twosies of easily managed sized parts that might be fine...but this playa bound piece has 12 parts that are 17 feet by 7 feet by 3 inches. I could build my own tanks of EPDM. I do have a small crane, but as I would prefer to have ...
