The world's largest operating steam locomotive (Union Pacific Railroad Challenger-type) will be making a service stop in Gerlach itself on Tuesday, August 30. I just confirmed that. The steam engine looks like it will be making a service stop somewhere near Gerlach/Black Rock. Where will depend on where the most people would be able to see it.
