Re: Looking for tent and shade feedback

Unfortunately, had last minute change of plans.. wasn't able to make it this year. Planning on going next year though and will try this out then! Looking forward to it!

Re: Looking for tent and shade feedback

Just wanted to post final layout.. Really appreciate all of the feedback and notes. Feeling good about this setup.. I ended up adding a third post in the front for more support and also picked up some guy lines with the easy tension adjuster. Will be trying both the "porch" and securing that side to...

Re: Looking for tent and shade feedback

If you search for Odoland Adjustable Tarp Poles, that should get you to them. Great set of poles. I really like how the last segment of the pole is completely adjustable. Just ordered another set to test out adding a third pole in the front of the "porch". Will post a pic once that's in place. I als...

Re: Looking for tent and shade feedback

Ah! Like the idea of weaving through the grommets.. Will try that in the morning. I have some of those cool LEDs strings to put along the guy lines, but didn't think about flags for the day...

Re: Looking for tent and shade feedback

Good point. That would also help tighten along the edges.

Re: Looking for tent and shade feedback

Tested out porch idea.. Definitely opens up a lot of space (I left the original stakes in to show where they were), but I think I'd need some kind of middle pole at least on the outside and also maybe even in the middle. I threw a folding chair into the pic to give it scale. Will probably try both d...

Re: Looking for tent and shade feedback

That's a great suggestion.. I was thinking that it might be too much of a sail if they weren't angled...

Re: cooling your tent or van

Open questions to the group about my cooler.. I had this box laying around and wanted to use it for the shell.. The pump and fan are from the original post. Since I had a piece of blue and a piece of the aspen stuff, I smashed those two together to form a double wide pad and wrapped it with plastic ...

Looking for tent and shade feedback

Just did a test setup of my tent and shade setup.. Was wondering if anyone had some thoughts that would help make it as playa-tough as possible. It's a 12x20 aluminet sheet over one of the smaller canvas tents. The shade poles are pushed over the top of some 14" lag bolts to help keep the bottom in ...

Coding Art

Thinking about the iRobot theme.. Wonder if/where/how a group of coders could gather and build something while on the playa.. I have no idea how this ends up manifesting itself, just throwing thoughts out into the ether...

Good to know. I was thinking about going with the single speed. Maybe the 3 speed is a better option.. Thanks!

Re: Belt Bikes

I was thinking about getting a Priority Coast for the burn. Do you have any tips or suggestions about maintenance / extra parts / etc? Thanks! I ride a Priority bike for commuting and it is a belt drive. I have never seen anyone else riding them in the cities I've lived in with it, they are quite ra...

Re: [IMHO] BMC ticket sale process is broken!

Love this thread! As a virgin burner that has spent the last 8 months or so doing research, trying to figure out best practices, planning the trek out to BM and gathering supplies for a solo burn, it's nice to know that going into the void with nothing more than I can pack in is valued!
