Re: Where to park for eleven days near Bend, OR
No replies yet, so adding a little information. Since my friend is coming from Boise, Idaho on and I am coming from Seattle, the point of rendezvous is probably going to be Bend, OR. But we could meed in Redmond, Madras or even further afield. I just don't think Riley, OR would have much in the way ...

Where to park for eleven days near Bend, OR
I have a friend that is going to Oregon to see the total eclipse. He's going to hang out the extra days camping, but we are riding in together in my truck because I have to pull my trailer. What is a good place to park for days at a time? A safe place, a place where his car will not be towed after 7...

Re: Help refining lighting setup with 4 x 5m RGB LED strips
Take a close look at the strips. The lights are all wired in series. So even if you were to wire the four strips in "parallel" the individual LED sections are still all in series. Thus it doesn't really matter how you wire the strips, except the particulars of controlling the colors for each section...

Re: Cooking regulations on the outer playa?
Why do you ask? A simple yes/no answer might miss the information you need unless you explain the motivation or situation that inspired you to ask.
Also, what do you mean by "outer playa". Do you mean a placed art project in the middle of the city? Or are you just talking about your camp?

Re: Nevada Food License
The Nevada State Health Services is directed by state law to create regulations that apply to everyone in their state. From the grumbling here I believe that people either think they are special and these laws/regulations don't apply to them or they feel the laws are wrong and banquets, caterers, ev...

Re: When can I show up to camp?
Just as Labor Day is basically pack-up day and has nothing going on, Sunday night is now set-up camp night. You are officially allowed to enter the city and begin your Burn on Sunday at 6pm. Perhaps in the future they will include this as part of the range of dates on the ticket. But for now, the ev...

Re: Student needs access to computer w/ internet
It seems like the principles create blind spots for themselves sometimes. The principles have some areas where they potentially contradict each other. The art of being a burner is to balance those in your own way, ideally not interfering with the way that others balance their conflicts. Some times ...

Re: Student needs access to computer w/ internet
I just have a problem with anybody that pulls out the old "burnier than thou" stuff to judge anybody else. I edited the post to make it more clear that this is AN ARGUMENT, but not necessarily my argument. But I do think it has more traction than "RVers are not self reliant". I don't even understan...

Re: Student needs access to computer w/ internet
Well, there is a tent/group camp vs. RV/caravan debate, but I don't think self-reliance is the central issue of that debate. I think it is actually Immediacy. Hiding from the day's heat in your air conditioned box just doesn't bring you in contact with your neighbors in the same way. To some this is...

I camp in a trailer.
But I remodeled it from the frame up. That puts me in some sort of limbo in-between ass-hat and douchebag.

I wish more pilots went up in tandem with another plane. I was asked at the last second if I would shoot a few photos of Skybolt when I went up with Hoot in 2004. They were amazing!
Haven't had a chance to shoot other planes since.

I've rented vehicles from Enterprise with towing ability. (All my Burn rentals have been Enterprise). Re: Ideas for getting engaged on playa?
Consider arranging a photographer with a long lens to secretly record engagement photos. You can "randomly" run into your accomplice at some landmark and then they can discretely follow you to the final engagement location. Or you can set up your own camera, with luck. Here are how some photographer...

Photographer looking to match with wedding couple
I've had such a wonderful time doing playa weddings, once in 2009 and again last year. And I met both sets of couples right here, on E-playa. Normally I go to the event and work as a staff photographer covering the building of the city. (like this: http://www.burningman.com/installations/temple_buil...

Re: Securing trailers from wind gusts
The trailer for a tractor/trailer combo is about ten feet high, plus 3 feet for the wheels underneath. And up to 52 feet long. That is a much bigger wind profile than any camping trailer, all of which have a lower bottom edge so you can step in/out. I have never heard of a playa wind rolling a trail...

Will call has a short-cut line to Gate, running alongside the rest of the Gate lanes. You don't have to rejoin the back of the line.
