Re: Story-driven documentary
Been a while, but the doc is done and was published by BM Project this week. Thank you some seeing eye for the perfect idea, Mobility Camp is doing something amazing there each year and it was a pleasure to help tell their story: https://youtu.be/r0sBB_mJRKw I hope you all had a great burn this year!

Re: Story-driven documentary
Yes, I can stand behind what was said. We used yurt & water vendors, so with food being the last major ticket item that seemed unaccounted for in Reno, as least from who we know at the time, I couldn't help but float the idea, as this "pick-up and hit the gate" approach was the only way I really kne...

Re: Most strategic DSLR for night + video
Hmm... the zoom suction is a little concerning, as apparently the alkaline of the playa is smaller and more potentially detrimental that just ordinary dust that would wipe off. If I bring a decent camera, there may not be a zoom, just a few fixed length lenses.

Re: Story-driven documentary
I have expected some push back on this, with how inflated it seems to have gotten in the last few years, especially with the raving. Lonesomebri you might be onto something with a dissuading version. A boring and dirty depiction is probably the kind of video that the BM community would appreciate, e...

Story-driven documentary
I'm a filmmaker with tickets to my 2nd burn and now have another case of film-it syndrome. I am looking into a new camera kit to bring the week into vivid color and clarity, but the stories within are intended to carry the torch. If you have seen "They Shall Not Grow Old" you'll have an idea for the...

Re: Most strategic DSLR for night + video
Aha! Artery sounded like more of a loading and infrastructural type of department, but it looks like this is exactly the kind of place I need. The dust storm video linked in your article was probably a cool moment to catch, if not half a kamikaze mission for the camera. I'm not the most cautious sho...

Most strategic DSLR for night + video
Photographers out there... I'd really like to try and do the nights justice on camera, probably more moving than still, which may finally warrant a new camera body (Rebel T3i current, overdue). For anyone who may be familiar... I'm wondering if the A7 S3 is really such a quality jump in astrophotogr...

Mountain bikers... full suspension or hardtail?
I had a cozy beach cruiser with a soft seat last year for my first burn, which I may bring back for comfort's sake, but am wondering if zipping along the playa would be better in a mountain bike. I don't recall feeling too rattled by the riding last year, but my partner and I felt a little held up b...

Re: Looking for my tribe
Welcome MonsterMan. I'm also on the westside, filmmaker, and am likely going back for my 2nd burn in 2019. My hang up is whether or not I'll have a project going at the time, which I'm hoping to have wrapped before... would be tough to take a week off in the middle of prep. We'll see. There's a big ...

Re: Ideating a meal prep service for BM 2019
Liability wasn't something I'd much considered. My buddies running the SoCal meal prep service hadn't mentioned that in their own day to day ops, but I don't work with them directly any more so it hasn't been topical. I'm not exactly suggesting salmon and pheasant is on the menu, nor had I considere...

Ideating a meal prep service for BM 2019
Hey gang, my first burn this past summer (and experiencing the convince of a pre-fab hexayurt to grab on the last leg of the trip) got me thinking about what other elements of the journey can be serviced for pickup in Reno, particularly for those who fly in or have the disposal income to automate th...
