Re: I Made a Great Greywater Evaporator 30~60 gals per day
Wanna know what works better, is more foolproof and simpler? Big plastic barrels. Just dump it in, empty them on your way home at an RV dump station. Evap ponds get all sorts of things dumped in them by random a-holes, they collect dirt and dust, they’re not always empty when you’re packing up, and ...

Re: 2023: Blessing or Disaster?
Once again I sat it out. I’ve long believed it would be great if conditions were super horrible… rain… major dust storms… wind… heat… It’ll weed out a lot of the bucket listers and punish the unprepared. I’m saying it’s a good thing. Every burner should arrive prepared as if no one else was going to...

Internet and cell service are some of the worst things to happen to Burning Man, but you can’t stop progress.

Re: The basic problem with modern BRC
I'm sure glad you're so above it all, totally-not-a-sockpuppet who registered today to whine about it. :D Yup, I’m new here. Guess that makes my commentary invalid? Wouldn’t say I’m above it all but I do know it’s not my place to tell others how to burn. I’m all for educating someone who is breakin...

Re: What tool(s) are you using to drive lag bolts?
Last year was the first year I participated in this and it really was the woman's video that helped me do this correctly. If you could give me the link, because I can't find it anywhere. I didn't find the video today that I mentioned, but it could not be simpler, and I wonder if you were thinking o...

You haven’t made a friend here in two decades. Every so-called hater here is a lot more intelligent and a lot less of a baby crying for attention. Ok go ahead, make 30 posts demonstrating exactly that, or grow up and act like you didn’t spend fourth grade sniffing glue before being sent to an instit...

For those complaining about my "involvement", I have built solar power systems for 2 different camps (2 different years), with a focus on helping them with their refrigeration needs - and my own volunteer work with disaster relief. I have a business and family and customers, but still set some time...

Re: Open-Top First Gen 4Runner?
I like how this thread has clearly delineated the two types of burners. “It might mildly fuck up your trucks window switches but probably not so let’s have some fun!” “Be careful if you’re not looking the playa will completely dissolve your truck” I rusted up two really nice trucks by taking them o...

Re: Virgin looking for a quiet camp
Fasting out there, terrible idea. Don’t just plan on not eating. That’s literally the worst Burner prep I’ve ever heard. The way it really works is you need to show up prepared as if no one else would be there. This isn’t an easy, book accommodations and fly in kind of thing. Offering to cook for th...

The big glaring problem with this whole thing is the idea of free public fridge space.

Well I’ll just put it this way: I’d never buy a truck that had been used on the playa.
The issue with the dust is that it’s very corrosive.

Re: How early can we line up outside the gate?
It’s impossible to plan to be near the front of the line. That’s because there will always be a ton of people piling up too early, and you’ll be behind them anyway. You still end up waiting. And 30,000 others have the same idea. If there wasn’t such a thing as being sent to the D lot, you’d still ha...

There’s not enough info for anyone to tell you much.
What exactly is the problem?
DON’T “help on wider topics” if they don’t want or need it.
What does that even mean?

Bolt on the most comfortable seat you can find.
Taller handlebars.
Lower gears, which is most easily accomplished with a smaller front crank sprocket ("chainwheel" to the purists).
GREASE!
Rear carrying rack. You'll end up wanting to carry stuff.
Spare tubes/patch kit.

Re: Carbon Offsets within Placement 2022?
I was gonna go this year, if it was "cancelled" again. Today's version of BM is about like comparing NASCAR today vs. several decades ago. There's no longer a single stock fastener on a modern "stock" car racer. People have forgotten what a "stock" car really is. Burning Man is going right down the ...

Just a funny little observation… you’re definitely from the east coast, I knew it because you said “OUT in Seattle and Portland”. If someone says they’re on the west coast, it tells you where they are. If they say OUT on the west coast, it also tells you they’re from the east. They’re never just her...

Do you really think the BLM will allow 20,000++ people to gather each year with no central person/organization? The issue of sanitation, safety, medical facilities, art size, would be addressed. They could close the playa at a moments notice. The average city has 2.5 LEOs per 1000 people. So 20,000...
