Re: The person below me

Well that’s not far off the mark. I was just going through old weapons trying to assess whether to sell or keep. One is a 1910-ish Colt Frontier revolver with papers reporting it was once owned by Pancho Villa. Not his personal weapon but one he gave a woman as a gift. Also some 1800s rifles with no...

Re: Accept me for who I am

Oh man... there’s a lot of trouble brewing there.
I think the only piece of advice, from decades of experience with things like that, is don’t make babies with that person. You’re on the ocean with stormy weather my friend, don’t take on more cargo.

Re: OK so what the hell did I miss (the good old days)?

I go back to when the man was on the ground with hay bales to get him lit. There wasn’t really an overwhelming sense of camaraderie everywhere, there was also a good amount of fuck you. But it was good, self reliance was real then. That’s my biggest beef with The New Burners, they think it’s all abo...

Re: It all started in the year?

That’s a typo. But there’s really a lot more to it. Super briefly: Harvey burning his now-iconic wooden stick figure wasn’t originally the “Burning Man” you know at all. The whole event out in the desert thing wasn’t his idea, it was the San Francisco Cacophony Society. They held what they called a ...

One of the awesome things at Burning Man is eating like a king.
Man, emergency rations... that’s eating like a dog. An abused dog.

Bring real food, especially for a camp of several people!!

Re: Using EV (car) batteries to store power on playa

Your setup won’t be free because there are still expensive parts between the car and some solar panels and being able to run an air conditioner. I bring a 5000btu A/C as an emergency spare. I’ve tried it on playa, in a relatively small RV (truck camper) and it’s inadequate when it’s really hot. That...

Old solid fucking gold, the new dweeb singers should listen, too.
You know how to tell great rock from dweeb singer music? The rock sounds better the louder you play it, instead of worse.

Re: Using EV (car) batteries to store power on playa

A Honda generator works GREAT and is a hell of a lot smaller and lighter. What you’re proposing is gonna be a lot more expensive and a lot less practical. An inverter large enough to run an A/C will draw hundreds of amps at 12Vdc. You can’t run it straight off the car’s battery. And it’ll weigh a wh...

Re: Compact Drill vs. Impact Driver for Lag Screws

I’m a car builder guy, I’ve got four full roll-aways, my garage has a lathe, welders, all that stuff. I even bring a compressor and air tools to the playa. I’ve always used air impact “wrenches”, we’ve always called them “impact guns”. I haven’t gone to the cordless stuff, I refuse to buy into the g...

I did read your post.
They’re both drivers, neither is really a wrench. !t appears you’re calling it one thing or the other based on what socket drive size it is?

Anything you post on the ‘net isn’t necessarily gone whether this thread is deleted or not... just in case you’re actually depending on that. There’s such a thing as screenshots. The best Christmas season news around here is that Nordstrom’s (higher-end department store in Seattle) will NOT decorate...

Re: Our Playa Homes

The whole “the playa is my home” thing happens to most burners, it wears off after a few years.
It’s an empty non-life-supporting desert, with an ever-deteriorating commercial event that happens every year.

It would be more effective in that application. Just put the offending camper in the box. They rarely make as much noise as a cheap generator.
