Re: Late burners looking for camp!!

You ARE a camp. Why commit yourselves to camping with people you don’t know?
There’s such a thing as “camp drama”. You don’t need it.
Go, have fun, make friends, and by the time the week is out you’ll probably have an idea who you’d like to camp with next time. Or not!

Over-engineering shade structures = winning in BRC.
While bringing the charger and extra batteries is great, I bet one battery does all that with power to spare.

Re: Wohnmobil sharing - sharing RV as Camp

Remember that the max sleeping capacity includes folding the sofa and the eating seats and table into beds. The RV is all but unuseable when all the beds are in use.
So, make sure to figure on that.

Re: Impact Drivers

Absolutely bring the charger. Even if you haven’t got power, people around you will. Generally, if you just want to charge some batteries people with juice will be happy to oblige. Multiple adapters and sockets is a good idea not only in case of breakage but things get lost. I’d suggest since you’ll...

That’s funny... he’s never charged me for power... I wonder what could have made him want to charge even more than usual in that certain instance. I just can’t imagine.

ok yes I can

Re: Impact Drivers

It will absolutely do the job. I prefer Milwaukee cordless tools for two reasons, they’re what the best pro mechanics at the truck shops around here use, and they have the widest range of available tools that use their battery. They also sell a King Kong big daddy impact driver that will do truck lu...

And remember, if you get a Huffy Cranbrook - that specific model only - you can donate it to the Yellow Bike program on your way out. It must be the correct bike because they need all parts to interchange in order to manage the fleet. Bring a crescent wrench and pliers and such, and some grease. The...

I don’t see why not, just open the door a good amount rather than a crack or the exhaust will overheat them. I’ve run mine in the back of a pickup with a canopy shell at home during power outages, but I left the hatch open.

So one thing is never mentioned on your website... do you have a way to do these tours? All it says is you’ll have a bus stop where you sit around hoping someone comes by and gives you a ride.
And if so, how do you set the tone of the cruise when it’s someone else’s MV?

And then you’re back to more people who can’t bring their own shit... which leads to more plug and play and more spectators.. maybe these solutions improve traffic but they ruin the event.

Re: Thank you to all that helped me in this space...

Those are awesome! But yeah, physical gifts aren't really necessary. I'll offer the same advice I offer anyone coming for the first time. Get there, get your camp set up, and then wander down the street (any street, any direction) looking for someone who looks like they could benefit from an extra ...

Re: Preventing Bike Theft / Finding 'Lost' Bike Ideas

Next time I want to be around the far side of 8:30-ish, by some friends but not in a “camp”. No set up, no tear down, just roll up and stop. But I’ll probably be stuck with being near Elliot so that goddamm unjon isn’t too far away, I also moor the boat to him. He’s a regular stick in the mud I tell...

The numbers are OK now but if the Org manages to get BLM to increase the population cap by 30,000 with zero vehicle pass increase, the specatator percentage goes way up. There’s already no way they’re going to evacuate all the vehicles out there now in any kind of timely manner in case of some sort ...

Re: Burning 2019-2028 Plan - Your input requested (long)

Flying and bussing masses of people in, who obviously must depend on vendors (or “camps”) to accommodate them and obviously cannot be bringing much for anyone else to enjoy ruins it. The majority become spectators. There’s just no way around that. It’s just over. I've ridden the BxB from Reno the l...

What?? Don’t tell the starry eyed new burners that it isn’t and never was about love and manifesting inner peace and all that other stupid bullshit. How do you confuse an event called Burning Man with the Love Parade??

In 2007 a guy camped next to me from New York, it was his first time and he rode in (on one of those BMW R1200 all terrain bikes). He was a bit miserable in the dust and heat with no really good shelter and little water and food and such. I hooked him up with power to recharge his electronics, cold ...

Re: Bikes on the road shops close to BRC

Don’t count on a used bike that was at Burning Man before, that you pick up on the way in, to hold together and work all week. It might, it might not. I mean the frame won’t break in half but the bearings are likely trashed by abrasive, corrosive playa dirt. And most of the bikes were junk when they...

Re: 50 Available Camp Spots with Entheos - 3:45 & Esplanade

Any camp that advertises to fill 50 spots with amenities for any total stranger who pays IS a plug and play or at bare minimum contributes to the plug and play mentality. A real burner shows up prepared as if no one else would be there. You can write all the paragraphs you want, you are what you are.

Re: Protecting air con in an RV!

RV rooftop air conditioners don’t pull in outside air, they recirculate your existing interior air. You don’t need to do anything with it. As for all other vents, access hatches, window frames, etc, painters tape is your friend. If you do the standard Burning Man RV trick and cover your windows with...

Re: Hexayurt- recommended AC unit and Generator?

You’ll want more power... 10 - 12k BTU. 5000 BTU ACs are pretty weak and you won’t have much insulation, it’s gonna have to really put out. It’d be better than nothing though. The portable ones don’t have “vent issues”, there’s just a hose that needs to go outside. You have to get the cold air from ...
