Re: Elevated Speakers requirement
I have been a Theme Camp burner since 2002 and have never been without amplified sound in the camp. Never has there been a year without connecting to neighbors sensitivities to the sound that the camp will produce, informing them of when we would be producing amplified music and how to communicate w...

Re: Elevated Speakers requirement
Well, I would not call a pair or 12" monitors big sound, but I'm sure I can configure something for them for our half hour party during one of the stops on the Naked Pub Crawl/Ride at our camp. Thanks for the illumination.

Re: Elevated Speakers requirement
This was from a "Do's and Don'ts" email from bmorg. Circusy graphics and fonts. 4th sentence in quote below. Noise Control & Sound Policy Sound travels easily on the playa and not everyone will want to sleep when you do. Bring ear plugs! Audio systems must be held to a maximum power amplification of...

Elevated Speakers requirement
What is the reason for requiring speakers to be elevated off of the playa surface? Certainly general PA mains need to be elevated to get the sound out. Subwoofers, though, work best on the ground or floor so the low frequency does not disperse as much. My subs are designed to rest on a floor with th...

Re: Do not use US 395---Dangerous!
From Socal, Highways 5 and 99 really ARE safer to travel. They are straighter, wider, flatter, have consistant speed limits, offramps and onramps, and are mostly free of bicyclists, pedestrians and stopped cars on the side of the road. Whizzing by a small town is not an option on 395. You don't have...

Re: Do not use US 395---Dangerous!
CHP ran the stop. The local communities have no influence over the CHP, wheras and an elected sherrif may be more responsive to local business that count on Burners spending money.
Unless it's a different person running the district CHP, why would things be any different than last year?

Do not use US 395---Dangerous!
I traveled to Reno from Socal via US 395 in 2013. There was HEAVY law enforcement presence all along the route. An actual traffic stop in Bridgeport I went through included canine units. I'm 60+ and don't look like a Burner with my RV and drab colors, so I had no problem. Folks from my camp, traveli...

Re: New Burningman Ticket Process - 2012
[quote="Stickygreen"][quote="Zipper"] I saw those "sales" too. I know that there was a contingent of burners who were bidding up auctions in order to: outbid actual buyers, win the auction, then reneg on the payment, leaving the seller having to re-list the ticket and go through the same process all...

Re: New Burningman Ticket Process - 2012
you know there are allot of factors to consider, and this new lottery system may be the best option. First off, the BLM is currently negotiation with BMorg for a new land use contract, the current contract expired before last years event. that's right, last year was held on a temporary one year BLM...

Re: New Burningman Ticket Process - 2012
I say NO to the lottery concept. First of all I would rather slug out the wait on opening day and take my chances or just buy my ticket a little bit later after the big rush. The stress of that is momentary and temporary. The stress of not knowing whether I'm going to get a ticket at all, regardless...

I am interested in doing a laser light show at my camp for 2011. I plan to use commercially available lasers and follow the recomended safety procedures for same.

This will be the 5th year at Burning Man for my Honda eu300is generator. Of all the pricey things I'v bought for BM, this was the wisest of all of them. 100% reliable. I have sound enclosure for it as well with a top cover to keep the sun off of it. The enclosure helps control the dust being sucked ...

Bar Mitzva
There will also be an adult Bar Mitzva ceremony Saturday mid morning open to all at our camp "Miss Vah's Bar" (not a theme camp) followed by, of course, a party! I've been a member of Audrey's for a number of years (last year we did spa services and some killer dance events w/ dj's, year before was a major drag show) but this year the founder is scaling back and there will be no independent Audrey's. Notify Burning Man org
You MUST notify Burning Man of this incident. Burning Man does not condone any form of discrimination. Burning Man has the ability to enforce consequences to camps with unacceptable behaviors. My hope is that the camp does not condone this behavior, but the camp needs to establish this unequivocally...

There are four brands that make super quiet generators. That is maximum 65db, which is the level of normal conversation. This is what is required if you wish to use them in US Forest service campgrounds I beleive. The brands are Honda, Yamaha, Kipor, and Robins Subaru. The last two are lower priced ...

Well, I called BM and left a message, and emailed DMV with the question. No response from either, so must not be important enough to answer. Are bikes or trikes w/ small electric assist motors allowed?
:D I'm getting on in years now and do not have the energy to fight the desert winds when they come up. I would like to bring a bike that has a battery powered assist. The "motor" is very small, with some models looking a like a slightly enlarged hub. They are silent for all practical purposes . Cert...

FOUND: Day Pack w/ Camera, and other stuff near 7:30 & E
Found Saturday afternoon in our camp dome "Audrey's Brain Wash and Set". Was probably left behind by someone who received one of our heavenly massages and was too blissed out to remember it upon leaving. Dark blue or black day pack w/ all sorts of essential stuff to carry with you, (sunscreen, goggl...
