I brought my bike to the burn this year, stayed way back by the art cars and had a great time. This is the way to go in my opinion.

For those that think that anyone that just brings a costume is stupid and not participating I would like to remind you: Burning Man is EXPENSIVE. It is very hard to "participate" with a art installation or theme camp when you have little income. Not impossible of course but difficult. For my 3 years...

having said that I did notice more women wearing the exact same outfit (hotpants and platform boots)than ever this year and I got hit with the "you're not fuckable so don't waste my time" attitude for the first time as well. Being friends with a VERY fuckable girl that looks great in said outfit did...

2004 was my third burn and I have never run into a single yahoo or fratboy. I did have a bad experience with a snobby veteran and I have been disappointed at times, especially in 2003, mostly by the lack of art and by the weather. I agree that your experience is what you make it, and I think the key...

dreams

This was my second year at Burning Man and unlike last year I had dreams almost every night starting about 2 weeks before I was planning to leave for the playa. In every one of my dreams we left late, we forgot things and when we got there it was not in the right place and there were only about 200 ...

reno food

This year was my 2nd burn and we've stopped in Reno on our way home to eat at one of the buffets in the Silver Legacy both years. I haven't gotten any reaction one way or the other to the way I look but I guess I haven't looked too wierd yet, this year I was of course dusty, pissed off, with a cast ...

Chai Guy: Im glad being able to stay and clean up on Monday makes you feel like a'"real burner". I've been wondering what one needs to do to become a so-called real burner. Some of us have jobs that we have already got a week off from that we have to return to on Monday. It's usually not easy to con...

My husband was dressed as a Catholic Cardinal with a blow up doll dressed as a boy in a soccer uniform strapped to his waist. It had a sign around it's neck that said Beyond Belief. He was photographed by quite a few people walking through center camp on Friday right about when the lamplighters were...

I am so glad to see that others felt the negativity this year, that it wasn't just me. It's good to know that I wasn't imagining that nothing was finished for the first three days, that there was too much rude behavior and drunken energy, that the whole thing was more rave (although I am not one of ...
