Re: Man Base Shade Structure

There were three separate, intriguing design spaces around the Man in 2019.

I, personally, connected with the 'Cafe/Bistro'.

Your connection was clearly with a different space.

Do you have any photos?

Re: ❓Burner Family [First timers] Help ❓

Check out Kidsville! A huge village of families, camped in a 'kid-safe' zone (no adult activities in sight). There's also Black Rock Scouts (?), a program where the kids have daily activities in a pack: scavenger hunts involving kid-friendly camps, MV Art tours (ooh, The Monaco is a really bitchin' ...

This *is* a good place to look for a camp, you're just a bit early (goodonya). Once ticket sale info has been released, plans will form. Stay tuned. Also, some denizens here do tend to be snarky, dusty (it was better before ...) types; just slide right past them! (*ahem, you know who you are.*)

Re: The largest naked playa stampede: a stand to unite

Critical Tits, the topless bike ride, which has been happening for many years, has become increasingly difficult to make 'safe' for the riders due to cameras and gross gawkers. If you want to do a naked run, and want women to feel safe to participate, you should do this out by the trash fence and ha...

Re: "Burning Man" is; giving people permission to dream the impossible is possible

I know plenty of people who live on a shoestring, create art, and take it to BRC.

Sure, the biggest, shiniest things are expensive, loud and showy; so much of the real yuuummm out there is small and creative.

Bigger is not better; BRC is a great place to explore the intimate, clever things.

Ratty, that is illVille (Illumination Village), which is a camp of fire sculpture artists. I love the fire ceiling where one can recline on a circular padded platform and get lost in the beauty of the flames.

Re: Cost Preparation

My playa footwear consists of a good pair of leather boots (pull on Dingos), a pair of Ugg knockoffs for cool nights, and flip-flops for around camp. Booty shorts, thigh high socks, scarves/shemaghs (what *is* the plural of shemagh???), playa sweater, fun bathrobes, and playa coat complete the 'cost...

First, thanks to those intrepid eplayans who came to the Meet n Greet; it was great to see you all! Several folks stopped by later in the week and said that they had heeded the dire storm warnings and huddled at home. (What storm? We were warned and battened down while prepping for the gathering, fo...

Re: Advice for spotting scam camps?

Yep, May/June is a great time to be connecting with potentially dusty camps. Unless you've met the cool match camp in the dirt/swamp/desert/forest/tundra of regionals, or in the dust. 'Finding" a camp is not like shopping Victoria's Secret online, yo. Playa the long game. Make friends; charm neighbo...

Re: What kind of confirmation do we get?

No. If you bought through PayPal, you made a direct transaction with a ticket seller. The BMOrg has no skin in that game, unless the seller reports the tickets 'lost' or 'stolen', then the Org *may* cancel those tickets (especially if the buyer paid over face price). Do you have actual tickets in ha...

Re: Dumb Question: WHERE is the map of all the placed camps on this site?

The 'unofficial Burner Map' is the only source one can access prior to arriving at Greeters, where one is given the placement/Art map.

Not a dumb question, it just only 'sort of' exists as a burner voluntary addition map. (Thanks, burner who does this!)

Re: Want to send mail to the playa in 2017? Read This!

Each of the three POs on playa have their own unique services and are run independently. (I think) that this year 3&9 will receive incoming mail (no packages) and deliver; they also do internal city deliveries. If you're sending outgoing, off playa mail, it will need stamps of course. (I think) that...

Honestly, I've found that barefoot is best in playa mud; plastic bags over shoes/boots are a distant (unattractive/awkward) second.

Gum boots would become platforms quickly.
