Re: Plug&Play Camp PlayaSkool - Camp Probably intentionally left Moop to keep deposit and legally steal money from peopl

There are MANY (20,000?), every year, who are new to this Burning Man thing. Building a community means educating folks, bringing them into the fold, helping them understand the cultural norm(s). If you think it is acceptable to make money/gain from them without educating them and helping them under...

Re: Plug&Play Camp PlayaSkool - Camp Probably intentionally left Moop to keep deposit and legally steal money from peopl

This camp has been reported to the Org for egregious behaviour many times over the years. I encourage you, and any other campers that can/will, to make a report to Placement and to the (new) Theme Camp oversight group (whose name escapes me, but I'll poke around and report back). Could someone make ...

You can prepare your SUV for the dust, so as to not bring it home.

Painter's tarp and tape, limit in-and-outs, change the air filters.

google is your friend!

eplaya + keyword will search this website to better facilitate your info gathering.

I know several burners from Charlotte; look on Facebook for local groups with whom you could connect.

Burning Man Reddit also has a wealth of general information in the sidebars.

Re: Not Going to Burning Man at Burning Man

Our camp had over 2,000 visitors (we guesstimate, who's counting?) per day. I'm camp Mom/pfluffer. If my awesome SO had not appeared with the tandem to drag me out, I'd have never left camp this year. As it was, I got to the trash fence TWICE (woo hoo) and over to buzz about on the 9 side back in th...

Re: California Fires: Camp, Lost, Eden, Mountaineer, Woolsey, etc.

We've got folks here trying to get county building codes modified so that people can build straw bale or ceramic homes, which are both earthquake and fire resistant. Up at the Ojai Foundation, the only building that survived Thomas fire was a cob/straw/earth construction; the flames went right up an...

Re: California Fires: Camp, Lost, Eden, Mountaineer, Woolsey, etc.

Canoe: that would be correct. Thomas fire, last year in Ventura County, was caused by an old, under-maintained transformer that blew and sparked the drought-ridden vegetation that was growing *over* the transformer. Negligence. The utility has confirmed this, and just recently got legislation passed...

Re: Greetings Everyone

Hi!

I would suggest that you connect with local burners and get involved with your regional burn.
There are probably FaceCrack groups that are designed for this.

Good Luck!!!

Re: California Fires: Camp, Lost, Eden, Mountaineer, Woolsey, etc.

We went through the Thomas fire last December.

I'm really amazed at how resilient the native oaks are; they don't really catch fire, they get singed bark and their leaves *might* drop/burn but the trees survive.

My camp neighbored with OCF/Camp I Am for a couple of burns.

Great neighbors.
Steep learning curve with performers.
WiFi and phone connection, solid.
I called them all BOB; names were extraneous.

Lovely.

Re: Plug n plays running amuk

Entheos report. We stopped by on Wednesday evening. People were jumping on trampolines. They had a 'gifting booth' out front for 'offerings' from their camp. There was a DJ. Not a particularly pretty camp. Not a particularly inviting camp. I hope their *back of house* amenities were more cushy, for ...
