Re: Insects and critters

Golden Mean (the snail) has taken on a new life in Oakland. She is street legal and has become the Mayor's parade ride. She also visits schools regularly. She hasn't been to the playa in several years, sadly.
Her crew is now working on Empire, a spaceship.

Re: Making a class meet up on the playa

That may be a hard sell at the burn, but I'm certain you can find a camp that would enjoy the debate this topic would inspire. Read through the listing of Theme Camps from 2017 and see if you find one that would be a good fit. Or, sign up for time on the spoken word stage at center camp ... you'd de...

Lots of Theme Camps are/will be looking to schedule things in their space, perhaps find a camp to host?

Re: Catching a Thief

You should always lock your bike to itself, through the back tire so it won't roll. Don't ever lock it to an Art piece or a Mutant Vehicle (yes, seen it), because that's just stupid. This will be year 19 for me and I've never had my bike taken. It is ugly decorated as f*ck, flagpole, fluffy things, ...

Re: Looking for ride from Reno to BRC Saturday, Aug 25th

You sound like the PERFECT Burner Bus (tickets go on sale this week) candidate. *Bonus, the Bus goes on Saturday, makes a box store stop, and riders are automatic EA (WAP), so you can help your camp do last minute build stuff!* Gate ( for non WAP folk) opens Sunday and comes with hours of wait time ...

David Best uncovered the communal need for a place of reverence (I was there, spoke with him, shared his pain and understood). Larry, in his place of 'leadership', transformed that communal need into reality, both in the placement and the scope of the Temple ... not an easy decision and plagued with...

Re: Volunteering for Burning Man Departments in 2018

Volunteering is fun and rewarding.

I'd love a year of NO stadium level sound camps/cars, which I believe would dramatically reduce the one-time bucket list tourists' interest.

Never happen, though.

Volunteering is fun and rewarding; get down in the dust with the people who DO.

Hi, rongo.

I'm a theatre/music/improv person.

I have many playa commitments and a camp already, but I'm curious about your project.

Mostly, I'm confused about the 'script', since improv uses only prompts.

Can you tell us a bit more about your idea?

Re: New burner looking at 2018. Tons of questions.

Hello, and welcome. First: Seattle has a huge burner community; find them and get involved. Second: All of your questions have likely been answered right here on eplaya. The internal search function sucks, but if you use google+eplaya+keyword, you'll find a wealth of information (and some snark). Th...

Re: Question for camps that serve food to the (playa) masses

I would suggest not going in the book. 'Advertising' in the local 'hood, letting your neighbors know the plan, maybe lit sandwich boards (get it?) at the nearby intersections/portos, and naming your camp MIDNIGHT QUESADILLA (or whatever) should bring in the desired crowds. Midnight/late night food i...

I stopped going nude in 2001. The 'bros' were obnoxious. I do go topless, but am prepared/called upon to educate on a regular basis (so much emotional work, I'm an 'A cup' 8) ). If we could just ban the damn cameraphones 'in public' (not gonna happen, I know), it would be a MUCH better pla...

Look for Cocoons; huge selection of high-quality fitovers. They're pricey, so I waited for a sale!
I get the 'old lady' type with a 'roof' and wraparound earpieces; I find they do a lovely job keeping out the dust.

Yeah, burning man is not the Utopia you long for.

It will be challenging, enlightening, opening, dusty, HARD (not in the good way), and wonderful.

Or not.

Expectations can be difficult, newbie.

Open to THAT WHICH IS, that *which is not* can also be valuable.
