Re: Awkwardly Camping with Ex & his GF Situation - Advice?

As a ten year veteran and consummate poly buddha on the playa... No. Effin'. Way. You've set him with a ticket, and a place to crash. He wants to bring a GF last minute? Okay, that's reasonably manageable, and can be successful. He thinks it's cool to have sex with his GF, within earshot of you, whe...

Re: Temple Burn -- one hour of silence and reverence possibl

I should amend the philosophical debate on this to some extent - there is a line of course past people just making noise/blocking vision making light... If someone is being a true danger (out of control/incoherent/threatening/physically aggressive/intentionally damaging art) then they have moved out...

Re: Temple Burn -- one hour of silence and reverence possibl

Everyone is going to demonstrate what they feel the need to demonstrate at the temple burn. The temple is ONLY what it is, the burning of the structure only gains meaning because WE GIVE IT meaning. For those on the "keep it quiet" side of the debate - just keep doing what you're doing and keep crea...

Wednesday night I went out with my friends and my girl and eventually wound up over at Bloop, where we crashed out on their pillows. One of their camp members came out, invited us for a ride on their art car across the playa, bumping out The Polish Ambassador, which I had never heard before, and now...

Take a full sized towel you're not afraid to destroy, stack-fold it directly on top of your seat, and then wrap the towel and seat in Duct Tape, leaving enough empty space for padding. Works just fine.

Wow. Really? You really don't see the danger in driving in a white out? How many times have you attended Burning Man or driven out to the playa? I'm going to guess not many times. No, I don't, not in the weather we were in. And I've been 7 years. I have also logged about 60 miles cross-playa for Ea...

Lamdalu, thank you for sharing your inspiring story. I have taken six playa lovers over the seven years I've been, and one I married (and divorced), Two I've lost touch with and one passed away this year. While it was never love at first sight, in some cases it has definitely been strong, lifelong p...

We left immediately after the temple burn in a 3 vehicle caravan at 11:30PM Sunday. As soon as we got on the road to the gate there was a total whiteout (10 ft. visibility at most) and light rain but that didn't stop any of us from proceeding - cones were visible and the line was brisk - Of course B...

If the Human Carcass Wash is legal, I wouldn't sweat it. Also, in 2002 there was an enterprising group of swingers who got their feelers out very early - by midweek there were discretely posted, laminated sign at several camps advertising they were swinger friendly/open/LGBTwhateva! Just put in some...

My List of Burning Man Swag.

Was just talking to a couple of virgins about what I need to take care of for Burning Man and I started waxing poetical on all the little details so I figured I would just post my list of stuff that I'm planning on bringing. I've gone 6 years so I've kind of paired things down to what I need and wha...

I've seen to suspensions on the circle around Center Camp in 2003, full view, with plenty of spectators. No one commented or complained and I never heard anything about it on Eplaya. It's just another form of art, no less extreme than walking around naked with 15 piercing in your dick.

Badass, was it you at the truck complaining that people were being greedy in terms of taking lightsabers? I had no context to reference, but that comment seemed to come out of nowhere, with thousands of people already battling it up in front of the Man and plenty of kids out there. Come on, I know t...

I used the potties a lot this year, and they were surprisingly well maintained and almost always had TP in them. People were surprisingly ignorant of the potty locations, it's like some big secret but obvious to the observant. They all have blue and green lights flashing over them and can be spotted...

Observations on first timers.

When I first came to Burning Man in 2002, I was invited by a Burner, and was lucky to stay with him and with an extremely experienced, organized camp of 7 year burners. To be honest, I had no clued how blessed I was to be with those guys. I started out chasing fly-by MOOP on my bike, kept hydrated, ...

Having just gone through a site launch that also (quite unintentionally) alienated non-American participants, I imagine a similar scenario; defensiveness on the part of the US participants and indigination on the part of the rest. It doesn't matter if the Man is inclusive or not, it says "AMERICAN" ...

The second structure that they brought in with the big hole in it blew me away too, we saw it from the front and I kicked myself for using up my last roll of film earlier that day. Just gorgeous.

Sort of related.. I went by the house of cards in the middle of "The" duststorm.. my card was 5 of clubs. (dec. 13th)

Monday I went by the ashes of the house on MOOP cleanup and found a face down card lying in the dirt several feet from the burn.

...guess what card it was...
