Few people understand that Burning Man actually evolved out of ancient Swedish cultural rituals.

I don't mean to revive the whole debate, I just wanted to post my experience from the playa this year. My camp (Eridu) was directly across the street from Outpost 23 this year. Our experience was that they were awesome and respectful. As they'd stated with their camp application this year they were...

In 2003 after I passed Pyramid lake heading north to Gerlach during the day, a flat brown metallic "pancake" (for lack of a better description) about 100-150 feet in diameter flew over and in front of my car about a half mile away going west to east at about 100 mph. It continued, west to east, in a...

Hey Ms Mutaytor! We had to leave BRC on Thursday this year, but fortunately we caught you on Wednesday night at 4:30&Esp. We have many fond memories of you at Xara Dulzura and Pinky's 2003! The nuclear lookin' fireball was freakin' amazing (although we only saw it online). I'm sure it was quite the ...

. . . Why didn't you join forces and expell those assholes? How could you all let some jack-off thieves take over your camp? We've had "hangers on-ers" crash and mooch our camp that's for sure. But never a full on take over. I can relate to his sad situation. In our similar situation, we moved. The...

Partying can be a spiritual experience. I'm sure drugs, incl booze, have been used in connection with vision quests and altered states ever since when. I find my self being more and more selective with our activities and surroundings to keep our short time there positive. Sassy and I did go this yea...

Re: dust on the playa
....... LOOK OUT FOR THE OTHER GUY! Sadly since I was a kid that was always the motto. If we keep an eye one the others around us, and when we see them in need of help or in trouble, we ask if we can help in anyway. ...... Ranger Guardian AKA WILL FIX IT clear Well - I think that's a GREAT motto. C...

The Long Arm of the Law . . .
. . . is going to be looking for you between I-80 and BRC! I just spoke with a friend of mine living in Gerlach, and she told me that the cops are pulling people over for the slightest infraction or none at all. Re: Public question for BORG on Placement/Sound Policy
I'm somewhat shocked that you consider 2 streets from the esplanade and 1/2 hour from 10 O Clock the "quet zone". Though limited me experiences would suggest that anything close to the edge (10 and 2) or within 5-6 streets of the esplanade is pretty much busy 24/7. I read your previous thread about...

Here hopefully, is my last post on this subject. It is self-evident why I dismiss claims the Outpost23 lied on their questionnaire. They asked us "to be placed near late night friendly camps", away from "Noise sensitive areas". Very upfront and honest. No deception on their part. FALSE that they de...

Hosh ~ thanks for the "contribution" to this discussion. But, I'm going to attempt to keep this discussion sane. To reiterate, as is obvious by other posts, you cannot expect to sleep next to a large camp pounding you with sound in any part of the city. I truly believe that any camp that intends to ...

Player was complaining about Outpost23 in this thread as recently as August 11th. Outpost23 filed their questionnaire with their decision to move their late night sound to the deep playa back on May 29th. I don't understand what you are getting at here. PS: I would just like to add that the only fact I may have "exaggerated" was the whining comment in my orginal post (pt #7). That was hearsay. Public question for BORG on Placement/Sound Policy
Dear BORG and Burners -- I'd like to know why - oh why - after I had shared the information of our plight with Outpost 23 aka THE AFTERPARTY last year (see http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=15111), that the organizers could once again place an avowed late night party sound-blasting 2000 w...

Bingo. And I think education should be the first and most important part of trying to find a solution to this problem, because honestly the vast majority of the people making both the noise and the complaints have no clue what the rules actually are. And of course, there's also the fact that the va...
