I'm trying to power lights on an art installation. All LED, adding up to less than 100 watts. I want to run them from dusk to dawn. I want to run it all on 12 volt battery power. I have access to a 20 watt solar panel to charge it. Also have a charge controller. And a 400 watt inverter. I'm really c...

I'm making a small 6' dome, for an art project not to live in, so I'm only using 1/2 inch emt. I've go the geometry figured out, and the pipes cut to size, but now I need to squish them. I tried hammering one, which worked, but not very well, so the thing to do seems to be to use a press, which I do...

there's a lot of unfortunate crap in this thread, so forgive me for skipping to the end. Hopefully I'm not repeating information. I bought a Magna generator last year for about half the price of a honda. It's spit out 2000 watts continuous, and peaked at 2400. Cost around $500. Had the same decibel ...

The lifespan of ice really depends on a lot of things. Your ability to keep the cooler out of the sun, how often you open it, how full it is, the quality of the cooler, ambient temperature, etc. I would say on average, your ice will last 2 - 3 days, if it's a decent quality cooler, it's in the shade...

Sounds great. But kinda destroys that whole "self reliance" thing out the window, don't it? Thanks MikeVDS. That's exactly the response I was going to give. There are all kinds of levels of self reliance from joining a huge theme camp to Dickie in a Box. There are very few, if any people that go to...

cypress lounge bingo is still accepting people. (look us up on the theme camp listing) Buy-in is $400 per person. That covers your food, booze, water, shower, and behind the scenes use of our theme camp. We have an excellent cook. We are pretty laid back people. We put on Bingo games in the late aft...

Theme Camp in need of members

We are cypress lounge bingo. This will be our 5th year on the playa with this theme camp. We budgeted the camp for 12 people, and have since lost 6 of those. Including three trucks, and a trailer. We desperately need some good spirited people to help transport stuff, set up, work the camp, etc. Deta...

cypress lounge bingo is looking for a few more people. And some trailer space. We do late afternoon bingo games, chill bar at night. We've got a great chill spot, with lava lamps, raised platform meditation decks for lounging, bar, and bar tables. And a great kitchen too. I don't do the books, but I...

Simply suggesting not to card because it's uncool is pretty ignorant advice. Getting drunk, or getting minors drunk is not a part of the burning man ethos. Nor is there any reason to make somebody feel bad about being a first timer. We all were once, and one thing I've learned over the years is that...

How about using cheap vinal tubing, then running EL wire through each tube. Might hike up the cost a bit, but it would solve the illumination problem. The tubing can't support itself, but I think if you put some kind of metal rod through the bottom 1/4 - 1/2 of each length of tubing, you would get a...

That would be pretty cool to have access to the actual numbers, but most likely, we'll just have to figure it out based on the hight of the man.

Kinda like telling time by the position of the sun in the sky.
