Re: Elliot's Naked Bicycle Service, Piano Bar, & Much More 2018

Preparations are naturally enough accelerating. Tony & JoAnn were here yesterday, taking measurements and making plans to improve on our shade structure's structural integrity = wind survival factor. And moi... have plans to add another 1,200 sq. ft. of shade this year. Loaner bikes are "rolling off...

Re: Low Income Tickets

One of my camp-members applied for L.I. on March 25, and her Burner Profile still shows "Pending review". Are there others who are still awaiting a decision? Second item: At least one year... they reopened for more applications because they did not have the full 4,000 approved applicants. Please let...

FYI; I looked at a Burner Profile just now, and there is a $1,200 button on the page, but when I clicked it... it came up "None available now."

Related information: A trusted camp-mate with enormous bicycle knowledge informed me that.... The Huffy Crankbroke is engineered to last 100 kilometers on level smooth ground, in good weather, when ridden by an average Chinese lady, with minimal luggage and all other conditions ideal. And THAT... is...

Re: Burning Post-ACL Surgery?

Darn right I engaged! S_ting and her boyfriend belong to my camp's extended family.
And my RhoadesCar has been used for the same purpose many times already. And it has extra low gears.
Hmmm.... I also have a pedal-rickshaw. Maybe I ought to take that one out of mothballs this year.

We are looking into modding a trike so that my boyfriend can pedal me and I can just sit, but having a difficult time finding a good base trike to use that isn't $500+
All right... RhoadesCar it is. Stand by for PM.

Re: To Shade or Not to Shade?

I have three Costco carports set up in my back yard, and they measure a full 10 feet wide. And you can always splay a couple legs out a few extra inches.

Oh, definitely have shade over your tent, yes.

"Similar Topics"

Why do we still have that list of "Similar Topics" at the bottom of the page? I find it worse than useless. Many of the suggested topics are not similar at all, and others are outdated. I don't remember ever benefiting from opening one of those -- of course, I no longer do. To me, it is nothing but ...

Re: Only 6" of 24" lag screw is threaded

At 24" long, they better be at least 1/2" diameter -- to my way of thinking (though... I am not an engineer).
Regardless... it appears you are all set. See you in the Dust! :D

Bicycle Technician may be available

Human beings are a wonderful bunch, able to think independently and develop their own opinions, emotions, and habits. A minor downside… is that occasionally we suffer personality mismatches. No-one’s fault – just “not a good fit”, as we say these days. When this happens in the camp that bears my nam...

Re: Only 6" of 24" lag screw is threaded

What Motsky said.
And if I may add; You don't mention diameter, but I expect your 24" lags will hold just fine for your purpose.
If they had more threads... it might even be too difficult to screw them in and out. I have twisted the head off a few 3/8 x 14.

We settled on Franzia Crisp White. "Crisp White" sounds dreadful, doesn't it?! Well, it is sweet. But people tell me it is perfect on Playa -- refreshing, they often say when I ask. I cannot explain how that works, but I agree with it myself. In many other settings, it might be considered a de ss er...
