I will fake it when I get there tomorrow morning. Or we could just surround the people on the corner!

Re: Suitable Stakes

I'm flying in to San Jose, planning stops in Mountain View, Sand Fran and Reno already, so could plan other stops along the way for supplies. I'm hoping there will be stores I can pre-order and pick up the rebar when I get there. If you are going to be in Mountain View (Sunnyvale) there is Home Dep...

Re: dry ice

Wrap your dry ice in a towel. At the bottom of the cooler will last longer, at the top will keep things colder. Do NOT let anything wet touch your dry ice. If you want ice in with the dry ice make sure it is in bottles. Absolutely make sure any cooler is not directly on the playa (and in the shade)....

You can also use an EZUp and camo netting. Camo netting doesn't catch the wind like the standard top of an EZUp does. Camo netting can be done with other techniques, but an EZUp for a frame is easy.

Re: Filling up on water in Reno Airport?

You don't need a collapsible container to get drinking water from your ice from Arctica. Just use really good zip bags. Split your ice between a couple of bags. Of course, you need two sets of bags, one set for ice and one set for the melted ice!

I use an air mattress covered with a moving pad. Then sheets, a comforter and three wool blankets! Actually, I think I have only used all three blankets a couple of times. Many nights just the comforter is fine. But when it gets cold, the wool blankets sure are nice!

Re: Fresh vegetables question

Some veggies hold up great on the playa. Onions and Tomatoes are great, but do not put them in a cooler. Other veggies want the cool, but do not get them moist. Which is why zip-locks, or sealed containers are great. Some, like bananas last about two days. Get everyone coming in later to bring some!...

Re: Will my tent be ruined?

Springbar and Kodiak tents rock. Heavy and expensive, but they last forever. Your grand kids will still be using them! The only thing better is ""GP" tents. "General Purpose" military tents. There is a reason they have used them in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, etc. But you need a p...

There are a lot of people who end up with an extra ticket or two, who sell them at cost. A lot of friends of friends selling tickets. Facebook, etc. I just sold one last week (sorry, no more!).

Camo netting and a couple of spreader bars. You really only need shade from the east for the mornings. 20x20 of camo netting and two spreader bars is way less space than a Kodiak tent.

Also check Sportsman's Guide (www.sportsmansguide.com) they often have some great deals.

Or you could spend the extra money and get a Springbar or Kodiak tent. They will last forever.

$6.50 - Everbilt 3/16 in. x 100 ft. All-Purpose Clothesline White at Home Despot. I like the old cotton style if you can find it.

I am assuming this is just for guying down tents and stuff. Not big heavy duty stuff.

For stiffening up carports, ratchet straps are great.

BRC moves every year. It is a requirement of the BLM permit. It helps distribute the "damage" to the playa, so that the winter rains have a chance to level everything out.

Wrist band and ticket stub should get you in and out prior to Sunday, no charge. They expect camps/artists to need to go into Gerlach/Empire/Sparks/Reno before the event opens. You forget stuff, things break, etc. Couldn't hurt to have your early entry pass with you ticket stub on the way back in. M...

Since it only has two poles, it only has two places to put stakes in. This means in heavy wind it is pulling on only two stakes. A 10x10 Springbar (same size) has 16 places to put in stakes. Try to have some kind of wind block, and load the windward side with heavy stuff like water. Martini Steve Q...
