Re: How much longer will this site be around?

This is exactly why I used to frequent this site in my early years. There is a lot of information and helpful people here. It’s a bit sad to see it in a sunset state. Now that I think of it, most of it was pre social media explosion of Burningman. I don’t have any interest in those sites and haven’...

How much longer will this site be around?

This site used to be very active. Here it is opening night I’m sitting at home relishing in my decision to stay home. This site used to inspire me to some extent but now it’s a ghost town. A few of the old residents hanging around like an old dusty ghost town waiting for the last light to go out. Wh...

It easily fits in the back of a truck or trailer. Not to heavy either.

Re: how to build a side by side tandem / sociable tandem bike

Look up “American Speedster” Sidekick. https://americanspeedster.com/
You buy the plans and some hardware if you need it. The rest is PVC. I built one in 2011 for BM and it’s still usable after 12 trips to the playa.

4th of Juplaya news?

Anyone have any Juplaya news? I haven’t seen or heard anything about this years event. I looked at the weather report and the forecast looked to be in the triple digits.
Seems oddly quiet.

Re: We need a new kind of shuttle

I had heard this year the numbers were down quite a bit. I had heard 50k range and ticket dumping right before the event.
Anyone know if this is true?

Re: Volunteerism Decline Discussion

It seemed to be as bad this year as well. Our group had open shifts they were trying to fill. My wife’s group had a lot of shifts they were looking to fill. Gayte was recruiting on Reddit for volunteers. Exodus was empty of volunteers when I left. It was a free for all. It seems to be trending upwar...

The Golden Spike and the closure order

I’m curious,

If I wanted to attend the golden spike celebration would I be allowed since the Closure Order starts the same day? Or would I have to leave the playa?

Re: Round 3 of Covid vs the timeline (2022 episode)

Man, this bug just doesn’t want to die gracefully. The next door neighbor caught it in December. Today he tested positive again and has congestion and a low grade fever of 100.6. One might think after catching it the first time he would have formed antibodies to fend off subsequent exposures. Appare...

What happened to the 2021 documentary?

Last year at the Plan B burn I noticed camera crews with drones and handheld steady cameras driving around the event for several days. One truckload stopped in front of my camp to shoot some video. I asked what they were doing and one of them explained that it was going to be a documentary about Bur...

Re: Round 3 of Covid vs the timeline (2022 episode)

I’m thinking that 2022 event is back on the shelf. With Omicron spreading like wildfire and newly discovered variants showing up, how can the Org keep a clear conscience by going ahead with the event? It will be interesting to see how they deal with it this year. Tix sales are close at hand. Well, t...

Re: NEW Camp! IPOW: Indigenous People Of the World

Well, according to Marion, a burn in 2021 is unlikely. At least that’s the latest blurb on the reddit sub.
So it’s up to the free radicals to have another non-event on playa.

Re: So who is still going?

I got a report - for all intents and purposes, it appears that last night felt like BRC. There's a critical mass of people out there now, a few art cars, at least one sound camp, a lot of bars, artwork etc. It's spread out from the 2019 city site to a few miles north. There are some serious set-ups...

How many taking the Pyramid Lake closure bypass, "Jungo Rd. via Winnemucca now known as Gate2020"?

My rig will indeed be parked by Grey. Big white dually with camper on it. There’s World War Three going on on Facebook about it, yet people are camping at campgrounds all over the place in much closer proximity and they think that’s fine. The more the Facebookers squeak about it, the more pictures ...

This sounds like a perfect opportunity to evacuate to the playa for burn week. The event might not be dead after all.

Good luck.

One of the citizens of Gerlach took a poll regarding if they wanted visitors to stop in town. It was about 50/50 I believe [/quote] Not so anymore they are hurting financially and want the business. Have a look here. https://www.reddit.com/r/BurningMan/comments/i627tt/bureau_of_land_management_cance...

Still like the idea of an on-playa meetup for YCC folks from the early days.
If we consider "life-changing events" , YCC is surely one that qualifies for many (including myself).
There are some FB pages where people reconnect.
Too bad we can’t do it this year. That would have been fun.

Re: Is it over?

I sure hope not but I’m doubting it will re-appear. I wouldn’t be surprised if it morphs into another event in a different location. The BLM is creating headaches for BMP. They really need a reality check. Hopefully a couple of years without the revenue stream will open their eyes. I think people ne...
