Re: Open-Top First Gen 4Runner?
Heck brother, most of the controls are still mechanical on that thing. Barely made the cut for fuel injection. It will be fine and dandy. ...and this is what I wanted to hear!! (And kind of what I was already thinking... pretty much *everything* is mechanical on this thing) It has been a Texas car ...

Re: Open-Top First Gen 4Runner?
Damn. I just learned the 1st gen 4runner I have doesn't come with a cabin air filter.
Wonder if I'm asking for trouble running playa dust through my evaporator core... Dust + A/C moisture > rust > evaporator fins rusting out > all of my R134a leaking out of the system?

Re: Open-Top First Gen 4Runner?
Thanks for the helpful tips, yall! > My biggest issue with my truck out there has been corroded electrical connections. Can you tell me more about that? Are we talking big, easy-to-replace conductors in your engine bay? Or insidious little things like, say, your power window switches? > marine grade...

Open-Top First Gen 4Runner?
Hey folks, I'm driving my 1987 4runner out to the playa this year. I'll be there 3 weeks pre-event for DPW (for a total of 4 weeks on the desert floor). My generation of 4runner came with a removable camper top. With that removed, and without a divider between the cabin and the rear, the cabin would...

Grommet Spacing
Hi folks, I'm designing a new carport for myself. It's a 1 3/8" top rail metal tube frame that measures 10x10x7. I'm getting black 90% polyethylene shade cloth custom made for the sidewalls. The place making the tarps spaces grommets 2' apart. Any thoughts if 2' of grommet spacing is enough? Or shou...

Cutting + Coupling Top Rail: How small?
Hi folks, I'm building a 10x10x7 carport out of 1 3/8" 16 gauge top rail fence tubing. I'm trying to cut down the tube lengths - so they'll pack + travel more easily - and couple them, on the playa. (Specifically, I'll use this car port coupler from YSBW: https://www.ysbw.com/Canopy-Fitting-1-3-8-Co...
