Burningman or Burning Out?
I hear ya. Sometimes repetition of any experience simply leads to burn out. I grew up near Disneyland, and every year it seemed some 'other relatives' descended upon us for a visit cuz we were conveniently located to the 'happiest gift shop on earth.' Year after year, the excitement waned and eventu...

Ouch! I have a headache. "Two myna seplleing erryors... catn't thynkstrate....Owww!" Forget about the lake bed. The damage is in my head. "these people were doing the nasty.... " Some people call it making love. I can understand your concern about exposing your child to adult situations. The burn is chock full of 'em. No need to worry
Each of us was issued the most beautiful 'suit' in the womb. It was until shame came upon us that we felt a need to cover up... or was it the ice age? Anyway, it's what makes us unique individuals, yet is common to all of us. Our inner beauty supercedes our external appearance. Although, I very much...

Go for Nimh's!
What's up Dallas? I'd stay away from NiCad, (NickelCadmium) and go for NiMh's (Nickel Metal Hydride) They hold a charge longer. and have greater potential to recharge many more times than NiCad's. There is a difference in their basic chemistry, so no matter what, the charger should match the batteri...

All U/W photog's coming out of the closet
Hey Lens People. The whole u/w photo and Nikonos thing intrigues me. I'm an u/w photo boy and used to own a nikonos years ago. I guess it was my use of the term 'backscatter' which comes from u/w photo experience and I could only think of the playa night spots in relative terms. I would never consid...

Thanks Lens-people. I'm an U/W photographer also. Perhaps a bit more practical that lugging a tripod around. I'll le...

Night Photography Question
I never seem to have trouble taking cool shots during the day. Plenty of sunshine. Good exposure. No problem with airborn dust causing backscatter, bluriness. At night however, the airborn dust catches the flash from my camera blasting the dust with light causing the backscatter blur. Do I need a se...

My Dear Dallas, I would never presume to dictate anyone's behaviour. I certainly respect one's choice for sobriety... if that's their choice. Burn Countdown vs. YOUR Countdown?
Ok, by now we're familiar with the phrase "The Man burns in ?#? days." But what's your personal countdown? IE: The man burns in 60 days, I depart for the burn in 52! Wet Playa in '05?
Whatching the weather patterns recently, I'm begining to maintain some angst regarding the possiblity of a Wet-Burn. I heard stories about the last time it was really wet on the playa. Anum 2000? Vets. Please chime in. Is there such a thing as a Burn Almanac? Wear your rubbers kids!

Parade of Domes
We'll be targeting 4:00 and Hysteria, if the land grab goes well on Monday.
Isn't it interesting most of the parade of domes camps are located somewhere around 4, 4:30, 5:00. Yo! The Eastside of the clock rocks!
Look for Camp Double Dome. Two 20' PVC/Parachute domes.
Are we there yet?

Man-i-skirt instead of a Sarong
I'm making mini skirts for men for the playa this year. I call 'em Man-i-skirts. While the UTILIKILTS are totally awesome, and I love and wear sarongs on the playa and at home, I'm digging the Man-i-skirts. They won't fall off, get tangled in your bike gears, and the fabrics are lighter, breezier, s...

One of the first things greeters will tell upon arrival is about the Porta potties. "If it didn't come from your body, don't throw it in the Porta pottie!"
