Re: Art Car with white lasers??
Take a look for yourself. There's actually 2 types of white lights. Little twinkle once all over the background, and large ones where the lasers come out. And I'm pretty sure those are not actually part of the lasers, but it looks like the lasers are coming out of them, which is very cool. https://y...

Re: Art Car with white lasers??
The white flashing lights are most probably stroboscopes, the light is emitted by a xenon discharge tube. You thing so? I don't know. Strobes build up a lot of power then release it in a flash (they used them for flashes) . These seemed to be turned on for a long period of time. Maybe they were xen...

Re: Art Car with white lasers??
I guess what stuck with me in addition to the lasers was those super bright white lights twinkling on and off. Those don't change colors, do they? It did have a white light feel to it, didn't it? I only saw it for 20 minutes before the people I was with wanted to go... the music was to repetitive fo...

Re: Mayan Warrior
I caught it on Saturday night and I was mesmerized! Wish I had spent more time at it. But I managed to shoot some VR video of it.

Black Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D Digital Camera
On Sunday night I lost my 3D camera somewhere between my art installation, Solar FREAKING Galaxies, and the spotlights. This was all over by Opulent Temple. It is a black, Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W3 Digital Camera with 3.5-Inch LCD. It is a compact camera but a bit longer than normal because it has...

GalaxyHut Shade structure
For anyone who is looking for a shade structure to build that's fairly inexpensive and doesn't require a lot of tools or skill, I made some modifications to the original monkey hut design to make it wider and taller and solve some of the problems that it had. I have posted the instructions and photo...

We had a 13x9 Coleman cabin tent last year. I built this shade structure for it.
http://galaxybeing.com/galaxyhut/
My main goal with the structure has always been to be able to sleep anytime of the day.
Your tent looks like it has a lot of mesh. How do you keep out the dust?

I took my iPhone last year (to test an app) and had voice and data service when I got there, but as the city filled up it vanished. Occasionally at odd times I would get bars and be able to make calls, but not when I needed to. We lost our tarp and went over to the Burning Phone camp and made a call...

Build a GalaxyHut Shade Structure
I've written up instructions for the shade structure that I've been using and improving the last few years. I call it the Galaxy Hut and it's based on the Monkey Hut ( http://www.chromatest.net/Lovemonkey/ ) and other quonset hut designs, with additions for added size, strength, and deflection of th...

cheap Target screened gazebo
FYI for the last 5 years I took a $35 screened gazebo and it worked great. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3064/2675741997_de83228327_b.jpg You have to tie it down at the top of the corners from the D-rings. The frame is thin tubing. Don't anchor the frame down in any way. If the wind picks it up, th...

Keeping Bikes from falling over
If your kickstand sinks into the playa you can put a ball on the end. I cut the elastic part off a bungie ball and slipped the ball over the end of my kick stand, with a lot of duct tape to keep it from falling off. Wrap some duct tape over the end of the kick stand before slipping the ball on to ma...

DUCK TAPED CLEAR SHEET PLASTIC THE OVER VENTS
A couple of years ago we had three large triangular vents at the top of the tent and we got tons of dust on our bed. The next year my gf took triangular pieces of tent material and sewed velcro around the edges and the same on the tent. It worked great, but we never took them off, just unzipped the ...

You're right, the morning sun is a bitch, expecially if you like to stay out late at night. I found some cool SOLAR STRING LIGHTS
I found some cool solar string LED lights on ebay. Great for marking your camp or art piece in the middle of the desert. And there GREEN!!! There's 60 lights on each string and they burn for 8+ hours. They are shipped from Hong Kong and the total cost is about $25 ea. I've had two sets running on my...

drugs
I'm sure all the cops at BM take drugs. I'm sure they all drink coffee (Caffene) and some smoke cigs (Nicotine). I'm sure in their off time they drink booze (Alcohol). I'm sure if one of them drinks too much coffee it could affect his behaviour. Everybody takes drugs, don't they? It's just a matter ...
