"Children have been present from the VERY first Burn, have you? If all Burning man is to you is sex and drugs, then I feel sorry for you."
That first part doesn't make any sense. Have the same children been present from the very first burn? To the second. I didn't do drugs at Burning...

Leave the children at home please! My girl and I intentionally camped as far out as we could for a combination of peace and privacy. After we were all settled for a day and a night, up rolls a 50-foot mega motorhome and with four kids from 8 to 15, three of them girls. I'd never bring my kids to BM....

Cop Watch
I want to add more to the "Cop Watch" concept for news radio. Pretty much every Burner is irritated by the way John Law targets us having fun out in the middle of nowhere. They sneak among us, scrutinizing us, judging us, staring us down, bringing down our mood. I was a good boy in '07, not breaking...

Burning Man Needs A News Radio ONLY station! in 2008
There are so many reasons for a dedicated news station. The discussions on eplaya following the 2007 event illustrate how much confusion there was around not knowing who, what and where events were. Even with a good guide, radio seems to be the only viable mass information dissemination option for t...

The only bright spot about this theme is... I'm looking forward to seeing several hundred women looking like Wonder Woman in RW&B. Except I hope they all have the decency to paint on the uniform instead of wearing one. But keep the boots. Those are sexy and necessary. If nothing else, just make sure...

I brought this to the webmaster and it was suggested that improving the situation with better databases should be initiated and implemented by Burners on the outside. That's great. I volunteer. (And I need a bunch of volunteer code-heads familiar with SQL, javascript and PHP to pull it off). One pro...

Proposed solution
Here is a proposal for revamping the information flow for talent listings the Who, What, Where Guide and the Info booth: A) Establish an "Act" registry where every performer that wishes to be known at Burning Man creates a talent profile explaining what they will perform. If they have more than one ...

Related to the "finding an event" issue is the "locating information on talent our sounds you liked at the event". On other threads I found manypeople asking for links to talent or where to find music heard at the event. I was among them. The non-BRC station played some great music and I can't find ...

Who, What Where Guide -- What?
What happened with the guide this year!??! The event guide usually given when entering Burning Man was extremely valuable and fairly effective in 2003. Last year I began to rely on it heavily for choosing events to attend and being aware of some of the fabulous performers on the playa. This year I d...

Scooters are not regulated. Nor are bikes. They seem to get along fine without DMV. However, I agree that you can't have all the regular cars driving around. Either a better licensing process needs to be developed that includes a quick and just appeal process, or a recategorization is in order that ...

Published? Ha! When I arrived, they had no more event schedules so I missed my favorite burning man event, critical tits. It was quite lame having no idea what was going on. Not the experience I had previous years with a functional schedule. So don't worry girls, I'm sure this is a trend of ineptitu...

If anything, it seemed like there were less art cars than in previous years. I can't figure out why they would freak builders out by suggesting they would deny licenses just due to the volume when so many concepts never make there anyway. I too worked my ass off for several overstressed months and s...

I had forgotten about the guy with the bullhorn looking for Monica and the other asshat. Yeah, those were really bad vibes. There's a fine line between drunken, hostile spring-break show offishness and happier, well-meaning quips. I don't think I've EVER heard anything out of a bullhorn at Burning M...

The other radio station?
The burning man site doesn't seem to recognize the other radio station that played some excellent music. What was it, what's the story behind it, and how can we get some of the playlists. Actually, this is also a shout out to anyone with good links or suggestions to a lot of that sexy techno with fe...

The Temple Burn Experience
I'm not sure if this has been covered in another thread...I couldn't find it by searching, so sorry if this is redundant... Every Burning Man brings something unique, but it is common to expect a certain range of not so incredible events each year that will pale in comparison to the first time. How ...

One more clarification
Is this setup supposed to run direct from the main propane tank at full pressure, or is is supposed to use a regulator as found on barbecues, etc?

Accumulator
I'm trying to keep the center of gravity lower, so would it work to have the accumulator at ground level with a 10 foot pipe ending up at the valve? Or does the accumulator need to be at the release point?

Accumulator
For the accumulator, what I'd like to do now is take a small propane torch size tank, knock out the stop, use the threaded one end to fill it from the bottom and tap in the 1/2" pipe with valve into the top. Would that fly?

rating
How do you know if a tank, valve or hose is rated for propane? Clearly the main tank is easy, but the rest? Is the accumulator considered a tank? Because I was going to just weld that out of alumunim and feed it with a 1/2" electrical conduit that would also get it up four feet above the 6' high str...

Can the valve feeding the accumulator be left on during releases of the accumulator so that it is continually filling, or does it have to be shut off each time the accumulator is fired? Flame effects
OK, just to make sure I understand this correctly. The purpose of the accumulator is to allow primarily for rapid release of a large amount of gas in a burst mode? Then to fill the accumulator, I could use as small as 1/4" tubing, but the pressure in the accumulator will be limited to the maximum pr...

Of course
What pressure should the valves be rated for? Most peak at 250 lbs. Seems tricky to find a very high pressure electric valve. Yes, of course I have it registered. I don't have the name I registered it under handy. I didn't apply for flame effects so I was going to make it easily removable if they do...
