Tuesday Night Ride

Circumstances require I fly in to Reno Tues. the 31st at 11:00 PM. Any Burner(s) willing to help out with a ride to the Playa would be amazingly appreciated. Also be quite happy to help with costs of gas etc. Fifth time burning, first time arriving home late. Oh well, shit happens.

The Vault of Heaven

I'm sorry, but in all honesty, my first impression was "cool, a theme about pussy", but then I'm somewhat sick, twisted, and hetero.

Motorcycles

First off, I don't own a motorcycle. But the friend I go with has a '77 BMW, aircooled. His third year, my second, he rode his bike and I drove his van. So packing wasn't a problem for him. The point being that many people ride their motorcycles. There is usually a BMW camp. We camped there twice. T...

Weirding In

So life has been pretty shitty recently. Lots of marriage strife as well as multiple family with medical problems. It's been kind of hard to hold it all together at times. I'm driving down I-5 to Albany, OR to see my mother in her nursing home, post stroke. Halfway there, a decision was made. I need...

I've received many cherished gifts in the last 4 years, some tangible, some not. My second year, 2001, cruising the playa by myself after the Burn, a celestial vision appeared from the darkness. A gorgous, young, very naked, women floated up to me. She asked how my burn had gone, how me week had bee...

One of my most treasured gifts is a CD from Camp Cherry, year 2002. It"s a great compilation of genres, most relating to burning shit. Raises my spirits everytime I'm missing home.

LL's idea of the audio love messages is a great one. We did this with our four year old and baby when we went to Mexico for a week on our tenth anniversary. We also had goodie bags for each day to give them a treat. They will love you when you get back.

Arriving late

The one aspect not mentioned so far about arriving in the middle of the week is the energy build up. The excitment and energy in Black Rock is palatable and builds as the days progress. More excitment, more people, often times people leave their more exotic costumes for later in the week. The energy...

No...unfortunately spelling isn't the only concern. We all make occasional typos/errors we miss when we proof-read. Actually, the fact that you typically write at a level less sophisticated then my 14 yo son, and that frequently multiple reads still leave me saying "What the Fuck does he mean", is t...

I have a tendency to not describe it. People who know me realize it is a mistake to bring Burningman up. "Obsessed" is the term generally applied to me. For those who don't know me well, I also refer people to the Web page, telling them to approach it with an open mind.

DVDB, If it was only the spelling and grammer, I could ignore it. But your ongoing inability to make logical, cohesive sentences/points just doesn't go away. Now out comes references to a national conspiracy to distract the public's attention with gay marriage while the "big fish" rape and pillage. ...

Right On Joel!

As I said earlier, I have little interest in who is in a relationship with who. That being the case, of course people of all persuasions should have the right to love and live in a committed relationship, be it with someone of the same or different gender. Will we ever get over our Puritan heritage?...

Then there are those of us who just put a bandana over our faces. With military issue goggles over my glasses I'm set. I've burned x four now and have never felt the need for a particulate mask. On the other hand, my lungs are somewhat used to a consistant barrage of hot smokey gases.

The buildup of anticipation as you drive towards the playa is a wonderful thing. Great tunes, great food, great times ahead. Fortunately, it's only about 10 hours from Portland.
