Re: Teenagers at Burning Man

Yeah. PLUS, he's been the only kid in my theme camp (Black Rock Burner Hostel) both years, so he gets fawned over by everyone and lots of them volunteer to take him out and about and show him a good time. Dad doesn't hafta "babysit". And, by now, he's so well-versed in female anatomy, via close-up ...

This is just plain wrong!

The difference in attending for 2 days as opposed to the entire week is that you will not become part of the community of Burning Man. Two days does not allow enough time for all of your worldly insight to slip away so that you can truely experience Burning Man, as opposed to being a spectator. As ...

Age of Majority is not well understood...

Just to try to clarify things a bit, it is incorrect to simply say that because someone is under 18, they can be held accountable for their actions and that is why Burning Man restricts their attendance. In fact, in California and Nevada (as well as many other states), there are many things that juv...

I have built several sets of risers for both stages and audiences for my theaters. A plywood top on 2x4 sides is the standard all-wood framing technique (although 1x4 can be used to save weight but it is more expensive even for less wood because 2x4 is the typical standard framing wood and is readil...

You are totally correct that PVC is a bad idea. I would think you would want something like a mast (i.e., wood). There were several large poles made out of wood (usually spliced together at BM) in 2003 that I saw. If you are going to guy wire it sufficiently, you probably don't need to go too deep. ...

Wednesday at Temple Of The Space Virgins...

My fiance and I had an unsettling experience at the Temple of the Space Virgins on Wednesday. We were looking for a comfortable place to, well, to get comfortable in  and we wandered into the very lovely and relatively (for the playa) comfortable Temple dome. It was about 9 PM and there was ab...
