Thank you guys for the input. We are still crunching stuff up and hope to find a local engineer, but the info has been super helpful in wrapping our pointy heads around this whole issue.

Just a quick note:
waterbeds have heaters - on a cold playa night, a 100 gallon bag of un-heated water would suck the heat right out ot you, probably give you hypothermia.

Hey calsur,
Try building a platform out of 2x4 and 1x12 (shelves) pine not much more expensive and totally burnable. Also if you just stack them you won't have to find the screws after you burn it!
