I am senior staff and I am a member of the city planning commitee. You can be sure that sound is going to be one of my priorities. Now, I would not expect major improvement without support from all parties involved, i.e., all the participants. Frog [quote="Kinetic IV"]Ron: Damn, enough rambling...it...

[quote="Kinetic IV"][quote]If the city had "Loud" and "Quiet" areas, this issue would be easier to resolve, maybe, but the Org no longer seems to think that is feasible or desireable. Why? I was responding on the placement issue. As I explained, placement is not part of rangers. We can help mediating, and be more aware of specific camps needs for the following year, but, we are not rangers. I like this idea. Ask for it in your theme camp questionnaire next year. Frog [quote="geekster"]I think the plazas and the avenues are a good way to get the regionals more involved in the event itself. The regionals could provide art for the plazas and be placed around them. Burning Silicon, my loca...

What do you think about the avenues this year ?
The title says it all. What do you think of the 4:30 and
7:30 avenues ? Did you notice the new keyholes ? The
4:30 and 7:30 plaza ?

Re: Esplande is to be creative
The placement of theme camps is done by their requests (not always fullfilled), by the level of interaction (at least what they say they will do - reality might be different) and what is possible. There is, of course, a main direction. For instance, there has been focus on the 4:30 and 7:30 avenues....

The best thing to do in this kind of cases is to contact IMMEDIATELY the person who has granted your early arrival. Frog [quote="geekster"][quote="capjbadger"]Oh hell... I didn't even think of this till now... I'm already approved and on an early arrive list (for sunday), but the person riding with ...

As I mentionned earlier, this is only for staff/volunteers. Theme Camps are supposed to build their camp. This is why they get in earlier. Trust me, if I could eliminate this own, I would. It is really, really painful for us to do. But that would require that trusting people would not be such a naive wish. This is not that simple, and this is not even really the problem. Burning Man is issued an event permit that starts on 8/28th (Monday). Even if the date of the begining of the event was set earlier, there would still be people who would like to come earlier to setpup. There is more than "just" the B...

Geekster is almost completely correct. Except that Theme Camps that have been allowed on the playa before Monday 28th, are, in fact, supposed to be building their camps. This is why they are there earlier. The restriction you are mentionning are for the staff and volunteers (non theme camps), that a...

I am from "BMORG" :-)
Yes, the deadline for theme camp early arrival was the 17th.
You need to be registered/mapped to apply for early arrival.
Without early arrival approval, the earliest you may enter Black
Rock City is Monday 28th 0:01 AM.

Registered camp means that you are placed. If your camp is not
placed, then you are not registered. If you are not registered, then
you may not arrive before Monday 28th 0:01 AM.
And there is no smoozing, bribing, etc... in the placement team.

No grant budget
Hi, The Black Rock City Placement does not have any budget for any grant: no Theme Camp has received any grant for many years now. The last grant given to Theme Camp was in 1998. Remember that grant money comes from ticket sales. Giving grants to Theme Camp would mean that the ticket price would hav...
