Anyone have contact info for FULL SERVE SELF SERVE?
While buying dry ice before the event I was short cash, and someone from FULL SERVE SELF SERVE loaned me -- a total stranger !-- $20 to complete the purchase. I said I'd pay them on the playa, and fully intended to -- but by Tuesday I'd forgot! That's the playa for you! So I need to paypal them, or ...

Re: Full Service-Self Service
Does anyone know where "Full Service-Self Service" will be located? I did not see it in any of the listings. Hey, I'm trying to contact anyone at Full Serve Self Serve (post playa 2008) -- I was short $$ whilst buying dry ice in Los ANgeles prior to leaving for the playa, and one of their members l...

Sound system equipment on the playa -- questions...
I'm planning on buying a sound system to use on the playa, for DJing psytrance, initially fairly modest. I'm wondering what anyone's experiences are with speakers umm communing with playa dust. It's got to be ruinous! I'm not too worried about the rest of the electronics at this point; I know it's a...

gotta butt in here again.. after the gresse trap question.. I tryed my mesh basket/colander per- filter.. It held the grease and soap and seeped & wicked the water out.. I think your trick is good, but I worry at the scale. Only a control bucket of soapy water vs. a dusty sink of gooey dishwater on...

I'm surprised I haven't seen this here (perhaps I missed it)... If grease and oils are such a problem, why not make a simple grease trap? Oils float... Badger Read the rest of the thread... The problem is oils etc emulsified with soaps. Try this simple experiment: fill a sink with soapy water. Scra...

Re: Try a sand filter
We have used a sand filter for the past few years for our kitchen waste water. It works really well. Oh my! Evidence that God really exists! Well, circumstantial, but I'll test later. Wow, I would like to see this filter. It smacks of robustness and brutal, subtle, simplicity. Many good ideas seem ...

Re: How's this?
Don't know if it's etiquette to throw my plans into someone else's thread for comment. If it's rude, apologies in advance. Rude!? It's rude NOT to! :-) Filter dishwater etc through a layer of screen-door material, then a layer of cloth, into a 32 gal trash can (raised up about 1 ft on blocks). /......

There are several. Thanks! Brytee's list is useful, but I was hoping for one that contained all the descriptive text so that I could search for 'sound' 'music' and mainly 'trance' and 'psy'. That sort of thing. I suppose I should add search code to my website and point it at the BM page. So many th...

Browser-searchable theme camp list?
I remember (or hallucinate) that last year someone non-BMorg took the theme camp list and made it keyword searchable on the web. Am I crazy (don't answer that) and/or has anyone produced such a thing for this year?
(I wanna search out and peruse all the sound camps before I go!)

Funny, I thought the BLM loved us on account of the $3/4 million we dump on them every year so they can all get IR cameras installed in the SUV cruisers and record our naked asses at night. You'd think that plus all the free pot would do it, nope. Apparently it's a long story, but BLM gets all wild...

Should you worry about it? Fuck no! Worst case scenario; you kick it with a bunch of burners on the side of the road or the will-call lot. What if soo many people show up and a hundred kittens die? Worry not, the BORG staff and BLM have been doing this for decades. They are all grown up and can han...

What is your strategy for floc? The plan is to settle it, separate and dry it, then haul it out. You are right, the kitchen stuff is nasty! Fats and soaps are the problem. Showers are easy. David was gonna test with home kitchen wash water, I forgot to ask him how that went. Last year we had maybe ...

The water going into my kitchen sink at home is filterd before it hits the drain.. . The water would be clean enough for bath.. !I bow before your deep thought and commitment! drain through a couple layers of cheese cloth, into a 5 gallon bucket or however big you need. a sump in the 5 gallon bucket, then an activated carbon filter after the pump. i would go with a larger one than the under the sink models. like .5 cubic feet to 1 cubic feet. this would have an incredibl...

It may be false economy to buy a crap generator. The added cost of post-generator power conditioning adds to the cost, and it's not cheap. It also worsens reliability; more things to break, connect, haul. Plus cheap generators piss off neighbors, use more fuel, ... Really cheap generators make worse...

You can't evaporate garbage -- greywater pre-filtering
Mr. Polando's excellent evaporator at http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=12911 works for clean greywater such as showers. But our relatively water-frugal camp's biggest wastewater source is kitchen washwater with lots of fats, soaps and food bits. It stinks, would be a nuisance in an evapo...

Re: Playa Tested Greywater Evaporator
Very cool, as all have said! Do you use it only on shower water and other relatively clean sources? Our camp is fairly frugal, and our main source of greywater is dishwashing, which is really loaded with fats and soaps. We've been bulk-filtering it, settling it, and for the cleaner stuff, sprinkle-c...
