I HATE this idea for a theme, I can't understand why it's the American Dream, why not the Global Dream, or World Dream something more abstract and open. .. Below are excerpts from one American Dream, big enough for the whole world. If America did not exist, it would be necessary to invent it. Just ask anyone who has found a home here after fleeing religious persecution or economic desparation in wherever they started out. America Dream is a state of mi...

Windmill Resources?
I am thinking about making a small windmill next year. No it is not too early for planning 2008, especially if you aren't going this year, like me!
Any good threads or resources to recommend?
What would you do with a windmill?
Thanks!

In an effort to find out what the fuck you are talking about, I stumbled on these gems: http://www.flight2mars.com/ http://www.laffinthedark.com/articles/flight2mars/flight.htm Do you have a Flight-to-Mars theme camp? Just curious-- what was it you were shooting for this year? Besides your roomy dome-bar, all I saw was a trashed semi-trailer that looked like a post-Aerosmith hotel room circa 1977 and tagged with the words "this sucks, why did you even build this?".

I only know this. I have met Player and Sassy. And while they likely don't remember me, IMHO, and more importantly, those of my friends who have camped with them-- these are some really GOOD people. They get the shy to come out of their shells, they get the lonely to feel recognized. These are the g...

While I'd like to think we could pull together an elegant evap solution, we barely know what an inverter is. So we'll lean toward water cans, garden sprayers, tarps, bleach, strainers, cheese cloth and using the elaborate greywater reclamation facilities of the other 36, 992 Fremen-like campers who ...

Oh calm down everybody. I didn't say we wouldn't try to find a way to comply. If the BMORG says that the BLM says that it is important, then we will work out something. Probably one of the simple solutions thoughtfully highlighted here. So pardon my confessional, apparently I am the only one to succ...

I think there is a big difference between a camp of 50 running showers over the same ground for a week, and a camp of say 8 distributing general purpose grey water. So y'all are telling me you walk over to the greywater evap tarp when you brush your teeth, and spit onto it? That you need to stand on...

"Our permit from BLM does NOT allow us to dump grey water directly onto the playa. Therefore all grey water must be collected." --http://www.burningman.com/preparation/event_survival/grey_water.html Does any one else find this ridiculous almost to the point of insanity? Give me a break. This is goin...

I've been cued up to camp with people in the midsts of relationship death spiral, and told them I would not camp with them. Who the hell would want to be around that kind of energy? In 2003 I got a herniated disc about 1 week before Burning Man. It was insanely painful. The doctor strongly urged me to not go, lest I risk permanent nerve damage. I didn't listen to him. So did it screw me upmore? I think probably. It took a good 2 years before I was no longer in chronic pain. So ...

Darling, I've got your vegan right *here*. What can you say about a guy who works for PETA and has "Meat is Murder" tatooed across the span of his shoulder blades? Find our Terraplane and you will find us. Find us and you will find a vegan. Hint: http://marmotov.blogs.friendster.com/photos/moop_unit...

Hiway Laws for Utility Trailers?
Howdy, We have a 17' mutant vehicle and an 8' flatbed utility trailer. Would it be ok to have 9' of mv trailing off the end, assuming it is appropriately flagged and lighted? Do the same laws apply for WA, OR, CA, NV? It's surprisingly difficult to track this info down, so any references would be hu...

My burning question is - is this an airframe with foldable wings? If not, how in hell are you getting it to the playa? Ah. You assume wings. It didn't come with wings. But in this case, we will make detachable wing-type things for easy transport. Plus, decouple the tail and cabin. Then reconstruct ...

Might a tractor be a better choice than the ATV? They seem to be designed to pull/push large loads. If the tractor goes inside the plane's cabin, and then some sort of frame and wheels are built to suspend the plane, the tractor could push/pull the frame and thus negate any suspension issues. I gues...
