Thank You
Thank you all for your great quotes! :D It looks like I have over 300 of them, so make sure you get a fortune if you see a roving gumball machine. I'm also glad that the tone of most of the contributions has been positive. I hope that you all have a wonderful positive experience on the Playa! I'll ...

fortunes come true
Maybe you could color code the messages in such a way so as to be able to figure out which message each person receives from a distance. Then you can make that fortune come true for them on the spot. Say someone gets a message that reads "You will be caught in an unexpected rain shower" as soon as ...

Why didn't I think of any of these?
(Don't answer that question)
You guys are great!
(and I see by the multiple edits that KayTwo is either a perfectionist, or just obsessive)
love,

Try grommets
Not exactly a layer, but what I've done is folded an edge back twice (about 2 inches each fold) , so I have 3 layers of tarp 2" wide. With a grommet kit, I put in one of the larger size grommets. This did work on our structure the last few years, including the incredible winds in 2004 (our structure...

How about go to page...
Since we are being spammed by someone, I can only find real current posts by going page by page until his name is no longer listed. It would be easier if I could jump to page 5 or 10 instead on one by one.

Got a good head shot of the man?
So I just got a Citibank credit card. In order to prevent theft, they will put my picture on the credit card. I'm hoping that they think I look like a blue neon sculpture  So.. if anybody has a reasonably sharp picture of the man's head, about 1000 pixels x 1000 pixels, please email me. Many t...

Books
I'm reading The Punic Wars. I'm enjoying it, but it's for history buffs. So I'll add a book I just finished and recommend:
Little Black Book of Stories, by A. S. Byatt. Now Byatt often usually writes long and complex novels, that can be a little dry. The stories here have emotion & humor.

Looking for a Trekkie who can quote from memory
Ok, I'm going to make a sign for BM, but I need a certain a fitting quote from either the movies or tv. So if there is someone out there who's got a great memory, here's the general idea. The quote has to be less than 30 words. It needs to have a name of a person/creature/device that is recognisable...

El wire on bikes
Cool neon makes great el wire devices - if you want your batteries to last - get a flashing driver (it makes a big difference over always on). They use either 9v or 2 or 4 AAs. Lemme also put in my pitch for NiMh batteries - they're rechargeable many more times than NiCad. Cool Neon sells kits as we...

Motorized vehicles add noise, dust and accidents (including fatalities) to BM. Sometimes we'd be having a quiet meal at our camp, and a speeding whatever would spread a cloud of dust over what had been clean and good tasting food. I have no problem with people using some kind of vehicle because they...

:? So here's my advice. I think you look fine. To lower cholesterol, you might try regular cardio exercise. So how do you make it not boring? How about, buy a used stationary bike from Craigslist, set it up in your place, and do something else while cycling - read, watch tv, surf the web (I'm seriou...

:?: Angry (is it ok if I call you by your first name?), What size range are you looking for? I have a broken tree trimmer blade, and some small jig saw blades, as well as dull (and tiny) dremel grinding wheels. I probably can accumulate some stuff as well from the machinist at work. And since I work...

Shade
:?:So.... I've been checking out greenhouse shade fabric. Some of it is heavy duty and has grommets so I'm sure it stand the wind. some fabric is lighter. It's cheaper (which is a plus), and can be cut (which is a plus). I found some that doesn't have grommets, they have clips that you snap on the e...
