Re: Help with 36'X30' EMT conduit flat top shade structure

I hang hammocks from a square tubing shade structure but it is where 2 independent structures meet and so there are twice the legs and horizontals there making a sturdy spine. I'd never hang a hammock from a 1" conduit shade framework.

Air travel is the only mode of transportation that helps dramatically relieve congestion on the highway. It's not going anywhere. (note that this is not directed at you, but a general rant) When you subsidize something you get more of it. In this case, more people attending the event with the expec...

I was unplaced and unofficial for years. I feel ya. I'm a bit biased, burnt and skeptical myself too. Been know to be jaded too. ...Welding Springs is a feat! Spring steel shouldn't like that. Nice work. Would I rather that I could go back to a responsible land grab sized for my camp and have all my...

Y'all are awesome! Reliance vs. Experience - that's gold right there. Sadly, the reliance part is what tickles me funny, and its not the providers, its the motives of the patrons. It may very well be one of those 'damned if you do, damned if you don't'' aspects of having such a broad and large popu...

First I did what you are proposing with cord.... Very time consuming. Then I did zip ties.... Very wasteful. Now I use bungee balls and it's fast and reusable and people fling them at each other for fun.

If you are a real HLF you will be in demand on Playa. First of all I believe you should follow your own vision of bringing your gift to light. I believe a mobile operation could work and I have considered one for my camp. Trouble is I don't think I could get an org issued driving pass for a mobile u...

It's pretty common for the ORG to not say much at all before they release info or change the website information but when they do there is often a JRS email shortly after and many times a Journal publication too. Keep your ear to the ground around here and you will hear about it when the new ticket ...

Re: Feasibility of Window AC for RV?

I think ready to go and tested install materials/setup and then installing as soon as you get to playa is the way to go. Typical window AC units put quite a bit of torque on the window frame and driving with that torque present while going over bumps could end badly. I really like Yiggy's cut out me...

As others have said Burning Man is a Do-ocracy. I think a realistic place to start is you doing or making provisions for 80% of the beginning phases of the project. Once you prove it can work then think about on boarding funding and build help. There are some great collective things at Burning Man b...

Re: North Pole 30 ft Shade Canopy - seek center pole

I think fence top rail comes in about 13' lengths and has a handy formed end that fits inside the main interior diameter. This means you can cut the piece in two and have 2 roughly 6' pieces to transport and then they fit back together for a full length piece. It's in the cyclone fencing area of you...

Definitely email Placement telling them what your plans are and ask to be put back on the placement email list. It might be appropriate to tell them who the primary leader is and who the backup leader is if the primary is not available.

I know right where it is and want to visit it in the late spring to see how shot up it gets. It's going to be visible from a frequently used road. Hopefully Frog Pond and Trego have a cleaner bill of health when I make the trip.
