Yonder Burn - I would love to help put something together for the new year. I work for a fireworks (and other stuff) company so I could help rig the man to BURN. I also know a guy who does flame sculpture and I have access to any number of tools and volunteers! I think I can find a few spinners too....

currently I'm still zooming around California but I normally stick to Christchurch unless I can find a reason to travel. I might go stay in wellington for a while when I get back as some friends have moved that way, and I have to go visit a friend in Dunedin (she just got engage)

Are large illumination flares prohibited too? I want to use some to cast light on to some mirrors. If they are, I am tempted to use a carbon arc lights. They have the advantage that they can be run for hours.
