Hi there Zulegoona :) I must say I still stick by my previous opinion, but you have raised a few good points there. Personally, whenever I told people about BM, I always described it as being "a temporary community out in the middle of the Nevada desert, with theme camps, music, art pieces, people i...

Given our circumstances (me roadtripping in NM and my boyfriend working long hours), our BM prep went relatively well this year: A good amount of sunscreen Plenty of water Multivitamin and Vitamin C tablets Heel balm (an essential!) Spray bottles For me - the plastic basket for my bike Ziplocs, zipl...

LOL, nice one nocturnal!

I did notice the unusual proliferation of Cruise America/Budget/etc. logos about the place myself. I thought displays of such logos (or indeed, any 'corporate' logo) at BM was heavily discouraged, if not banned?

WOW! Now THAT would have been worth staying until Sunday night if my camp didn't want to leave in the morning. That fire looked really hot! Let's put it this way - you could feel the heat from Uchronia/the Waffle all the way over at the remains of the Temple. Might have been a tad warm, eh?

Came back from my first Burning Man on Tuesday afternoon. It's already Thursday and I'm only JUST beginning to return to the default world mentally/emotionally. I'm not even going to go into it all here, otherwise I'll unintentionally monopolize one of these boards  If I do ramble a little, p...

I was dreading the inevitable clean-up before returning the van after Burning Man. Now my boyfriend & I don't need to worry about it.

Phil, you're a legend. Thank you so much for this :D

This is excellent! If only there was a live version available via wi-fi linkup on the playa

Seriously - it's a fantastic headstart on finding out where/when everything's happening.

Nice one!

Thanks for the tips, everyone. At least I won't have to worry about bug repellent, just the 999 other things in the pile of stuff to pack

Also, thank you for being patient with me, as a newbie. I've only just started navigating around the eplaya, so I haven't found everything yet.

Insects on the Playa

WARNING! Daft question from BM '06 virgin approaching! Just wondering - do mosquitoes tend to be a problem out on the playa? I'm asking so I know whether I really need to add some insect repellent to the growing supply pile in the loungeroom...or not. Any advice/stories of experience with mosquitoe...

Hello there! I'm the Wandering Pixie and this year is my first Burning Man. My boyfriend has been about three or four times, but I'll be a burn virgin. I would have come along in 2005, but I was already committed to another event in the UK that was happening at the same time. :( A little about myse...
