Re: Biggest MOOP in the history of Burning Man
Since I seem to be the 747 liaison here let me share that the plane did not have any public or camp passengers on board (except for a couple doing safety) during its two trips to the deep playa music zone and back to camp, and was surrounded by a rope line manned by 20 or so camp members and escorte...

Re: Biggest MOOP in the history of Burning Man
I don't post here much anymore and go as Keru on and off playa, and am as deep in the 747 build as you can get. It has been safely parked on heavy crane mats on private property and the ranchers that own the acreage have put up a cattle fence around it to somewhat define and protect the spot and the...

Re: Flame effects for mutant bicycle (approval/licensing)
lined up with the other mutants but didn't have to wait for all in front of me to go through licensing (thank the playa)...the fire marshal and his minions were walking down the line checking flame effects, gave them a heads up that that was all I needed and I got looked at in turn. post up a pic of...

Re: Flame effects for mutant bicycle (approval/licensing)
I get an official 'Flame Effects' sticker for my pedal trikes by going to the DMV night time check, they have a guy doing flame effects inspection. Things he looks for are a fire extinguisher, 1/4 turn shutoff valve (separate from the tank valve), no soldered fittings (use flared, threaded, or compr...

Re: 2016 Map and street names: Now with parking
I should add that there is no J (with rare exceptions) or K in the Italian alphabet they say, heheh. But still, we could have had Giovanni/Giuliano, Hyginus ( H is kinda rare too, have to go back to Roman times), Ignazio/Imola, Jesolo, K...hmmmm... Kappa! :D , and finally, come on, Leonardo ought to...

Booooo on bike stealers! Hope you still get a cool beast project going, maladroit. Since you still have one, a trike or sidecar? Oh and if anyone is thinking of getting the 7-speed Dolo also spring for the mega-range 7-speed freewheel and do a swap-in so you have an awesome low gear you will love.

Future Vehicle Pass vehicle reduction plan: Vehicles containing only the driver as occupant require a vehicle pass. Vehicles containing 2 or more occupants do not require a pass. A carrot and reward system. Reducing single occupant vehicles would likely be enough. Or make it 3 occupants required to...

After quite a few instances of taking one step forward to take two steps back, I've managed to cobble together a working fat trike. Re: Bike Builders Unite
First is the minimum hub width I can use for 4-inch rims. The rear axle that came with the trike conversion kit will accommodate up to 65mm hubs. Can I get away with that size hubs with 4-inch rims, or do I have to go with 100mm hubs and have a longer axle fabricated? This is my first foray into bi...

Re: Wind on the playa?
I already have the solar panels, they just have not found their way up on our roof, I have the battery, so that would be fine, but OTOH those panels are so huge. And again, we will not be coming in a RV, so I will have to put a mast into the playa ground for the wind turbine. Do you have a wind tur...
