Re: Worst part of 2013?
6th year and I felt United cut corners this year, at least at my local portos at 4:30 and C. I think about half of them had bad locks or incorrect indicators. There was almost never any hand sanitizer and it just felt like they serviced them once less per day than previous years. This was on United....

Re: post what you didn't like about 2011 here
I discovered that I am not a fan of Infected Mushroom's new material. It is so different from their other stuff that it seems like they should have released it under another name. That's the artist's prerogative though..

Re: Some Volunteers at the Center Camp Cafe shouldn't volunt
Toughen up if you want you coffee. While my few cafe experiences over the years have been good I do feel I should ask, if the cafe really necessary? Yes, people go there. People would also go somewhere selling slices of pizza, smoothies, or t shirts too. I would imagine the cafe was allowed in the f...

Props to Dust City Diner for the best grilled cheese of my life. Flaming Lotus Girls fireworks, goes without saying. The wagon thingie past 10 on the playa with the silly portraits. The dead cow artcar. United's service on the potties. Seriously, were any of them ever more than a third full? Those g...

They seemed really laid back this year and really heavy-handed last year. I'm sure everyone has a different perspective on this though.

I'm kind of bummed that there wasn't a proper whiteout this year. There was only one last year too, on burn night. Are whiteouts too cool for Burning Man now?

Can you help me identify the western wagon?
I discovered this on the playa just past Rites of Zion at 10 o'clock. It was a 19th century with portraits of western characters on it. It made me laugh harder than almost anything I've experienced in my 32 years. If there is a website or artist contact available for this I would appreciate someone ...

I'm a big fan of Splatinum if you like glitchy/whompy stuff. Their 6am sunrise set at Temple of Boom on Thursday morning (Wednesday night) should be cool. It is also supposed to start 15 minutes after Infected Mushroom ends next door.

Re: **ANXIETY**
In 2008 I flew into Reno but my enormous bag did not. It had my camping gear, clothes, gifts, camelbak, and random stuff I needed. All I had was my carryon with a change of clothes and toiletries. I got some goggles, a cup, food, and water at Walmart. Beyond that my wonderful campmates all helped me...

Re: Thinking of riding my motorcycle in.
Not cheating. A friend of mine rides his bike in most years. The first year he waited in line for several hours until he was really struggling and had seen other bikes splitting lanes. He has said that gate considers that fine (or "not cheating" in this discussion"). I' m not a biker myself so can o...

But inevitably someone I care about will find themselves in a situation where there *is* RS. And then what? Hopefully we all be wise enough to never arouse a reasonable suspicion. But you are right, this is inevitable. When the inevitable happens, you still need to politely refuse consent and keep ...

Re: What turns you off/on about DJs at Burning Man?
LIKE: Seeing the open Playa when you party. Still has an "underground" feel to it, which is becoming hard to achieve these days. Cool installations with fire. Artcar soundsystems setting up near large art pieces. (although this is a fine line) Unheard of DJs having the best night of their life. DISL...

Re: Bikes in Reno
Wally Worlds website's lowest prices on bikes are $79.97. If you order site-to-store you don't get it assembled. Not sure if it is assembled if you walk into the store, but you can't count on great assembled availability. The bikes shouldn't be too hard to assemble, but many of us won't have much ti...

Is anyone bringing an inversion bed?
Usually my lower back starts to bother me on the Playa. If this were to happen at home I would get in my inversion bed/table and would be able to adjust myself in about 10 seconds. Since I fly to Reno I'm not able to take mine. Usually on the Playa my back goes untreated and the problems compound. I...

The logistics of big name DJs
I've always wondered about this. When big name acts play some of the larger soundcamps, how do the logistics work? Do they do it like the rest of us? (pay for their own ticket, arrange their own transportation) Or does the soundcamp get their ticket for them and fly them to BRC or have a runner that...

Re: Respectful/polite 24yr old seeking a camp- help?
Just go low-rent. Know that every year you go you will be better prepared with more comfort. The first time you suck it up. Also, the real Playa is more friendly than ePlaya so don't let that discourage you. The first time I attended I decided to go on a Thursday night (I was living on the East coas...

I've been to 5 Phish shows. 4 in 1997 and 1 in 2010. I guess you can say I like them in small doses. If Phish Camp is some Phish playing while you drink beer under an EZ-Up I probably won't be dropping in. If it is some kind of interactive exhibit I will definitely check it out if I can find it. You...

Booze. California or Nevada?
Liquor is cheaper in Nevada than in California, isn't it? Do they sell it in WalMarts and Costcos or does one need to go to the more conventional liquor store?

I'm probably a bit paranoid, but here goes: Has anybody ever walked into a hotel post-burn with a reservation and been denied because they were so dusty? There's a 3.5 star hotel (name unknown) on hotwire for $44 on 9/2. It seems like the best deal going but I'm wondering if 3.5 makes too nice for m...
