Found: Pictures of family and pets
I was walking down 3:30 towards esplanade, Friday morning, say around 3 or 4AM, and I found what I thought to be some moop. I picked up the folder papers and looked at them. I saw that they were pictures of an older couple, a younger couple with a pet (an alpaca?) and another pet in a funeral pose. ...

Re: ESD Radio frequency information
I don't have a HAM license and I have two radios set up to contact ESD. I've suggested that the owner of our camps Mutant Vehicle, and the camp lead also buy radios which I will program for them. You know, for emergencies.

Re: ESD Radio frequency information
Since there are only 5 MURS channels, and probably a lot more than that number of groups of people trying to use it, I'd wager your guess is correct. Too much chatter on it to monitor it for emergencies effectively.

Re: ESD Radio frequency information
Thanks. I'm super new to this, and when I got into CHIRP software I saw all sorts of other columns that looked like maybe were important.
Seems I was overthinking it. Thanks Molotov!

ESD Radio frequency information
I have a Baofeng radio for camp in case we need to contact ESD. This was bought due to this post: https://survival.burningman.org/survival-health-and-safety/getting-help/ "“911” Service in Black Rock City — Best Ways to Get Help Fast" I'm programming it via CHIRP software, but it seems there are som...

Stolen Guestbook from my Art Installation
I had an art installation out there called "Illusions of Grandeur". It was an 8 foot high by 16 foot wide interactive wall of LEDs around 10:45 and 4600' (fairly close to where Balloon Chain was being created). I had a guest book there up until at least Wednesday evening. It was in a zip-lock bag wi...

Re: Soldering Help needed in West Oakland
I bring the butane iron even when I don't have an electrical project! A generator and the 100W iron might be quicker though. Hopefully I won't need to worry about it.

Re: Soldering Help needed in West Oakland
Well, I'm hitting it every evening after work. I now have the electronics for roughly 8 feet by 8 feet completed. The individual boards are (mostly?) completed for the rest, but they need to be combined into the vertical strips. I think it's moving along fairly nicely, if not stressfully. Luckily I ...

Re: Soldering Help needed in West Oakland
Pre-populating the boards (with a bent lead on each) has brought my time down to 3 minutes from a panel of 15 boards to tested individual circuit boards. So... good advice!

Re: Soldering Help needed in West Oakland
Thanks Trilo. Hopefully you'll see it out on the playa.
Thanks BBadger. I was trying to avoid the bent leads, but you're probably right. I'll try it on the next batch of 15 and see if it drops me below the ~4 minute mark average.

Just got the good word. Vinyl Bunker is officially debuting on E street near 9:15! Join us in the middle of the day for some hard lemonade, 50s music, and a selection of games on our front lawn. I'm absurdly excited. Hooray! The Fucking Flamingos are also at 9:15 & E. We'll have lots of random fun ...

Soldering Help needed in West Oakland
I have just shy of 400 circuit boards to solder parts on. It's really easy work, but it takes me on average 4 minutes to complete each board. So, I need help to finish this in time for Burning Man! This Saturday and Sunday, starting at noon, I'm hosting "solder parties". There will be music, and dri...

Re: Bitching about music on playa
On a personal note it saddens me that there aren't more musical choices overall, white dj's be running things with an occasional splash of brown skin here and there (if you are lucky lol). Would be nice if the large sound camps paid a bit more attention to that...but just an observation, no need to...

Re: Plug & Play Camping
Why are these sites allowed to use Burning Man imagery? Why are they given prime placement when most of their camp members are paying for the experience, as well as paying for the luxury of being in an RV? Why can they assume that they'll get a significant number of early entry passes? They're not....

Re: Plug & Play Camping
Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing. Reading about Playaskool, Jon is pretty much describing it as I thought most large scale theme camps already operated. Everybody pays a camp fee, everybody has a job (or jobs) to make the camp function. Some camps have build teams, while other people are clea...

How about we revoke all of the vendor passes? Why the fuck does an event that has no vending have vendor passes in the first place? The main sale has a limit of two tickets. The pre-sale is a program that was added a few years ago (by popular request) so that people who wanted to be able to give tickets for the holidays would be able to do so. In the past it was just at the top tier, this year they jacked it up by an extra $30 ...

Re: Burning Man 2012 Tickets FAQ
Yes, that's confirmed and correct. Sigh... Okay. That doesn't make sense to me at all then. If it's a low to high tier lottery, they really should just do a single price ticket lottery with 40,000 tickets priced at $325 each. There is no reason to do this, though I suppose it's their sandbox, and t...
