Re: LOST Orange Canon Powershot Camera near Pink Mammoth Sun

Um, I think we found it. picture of a few guys having lunch? lovely Lady in front of mirror... it was right in the center of a big tire track. I have my doubts the zoom is ever going to work again, and the battery may not come out, but I think the memory (8 G Lexor) is all intact. it opened up on he...

Re: How about giving theme camps a certificate for tickets?

Our average camp size is about 35, and we have 3 tickets from the lotto and 2 from a friend? Hoping for the rest of the group. The thought that first timers will replace established theme camps is bluntly crazy. They could volunteer at the camps but a large camp has a group that works together well ...

I moved my old 48 Chevy truck into my back yard with the engines hand crank , but it was moving at about a half mile per hour ... and I lifted my house even slower.. horse power is work (mass x distance) over time so you can move a pound real quick or a ton very slowly and still do the same work , h...

Blanking cards

for used cards you might try a stain sealing primer like "Kilz" or "zinzer" which is not water based and should seal in ink without causing the cards to warp and cost less than stickers if not used too thickly and still leave a good writing surface. use gloves , a semi dry small roller and an old fo...

If the lights are what I think they should work fine, use few batteries and not become disfucntional unless you fatigue the wires by bending them repeatedly, or loose the battery cover. ( tape it on ) and if a wire does break somewhere, besides where it enters the plastic, you can re-solder it. and ...

I found a place with solar freezers ,,, as in, a super insulated box with a high efficiency compressor run off a solar panel (or 2) with battery, set up cost about $1500, which I haven't budgeted at the moment, but is it that much more than a $200 freezer, a generator and gas? .. ok maybe a little. ...

what ropes ?

true , with the tiedown ropes inside the tent space and woven within the framework the main trip problem was the trailer tounge, and that had more to do with shins. also we did have the allys to the sides that were lit with the solar yard lights, all of which solved tripping problems. I was thinking...

sound deflection vs sound absorption

there are 3 ways to deal with sound. 1) Deflect it This helps the sound go somewhere else but not actually go away 2) Absorb it This works easily for high frequency sounds that have little wave energy but not so easily for low frequency sound which can have a large amount of energy that can travel l...

dust

Was just thinking ,
If you had a 10' tarp on each side and a 10' net ceiling,
the tarp would keep out most low ground dust and the net would vent the heat out.
just a thought,

Toastaly Tubular man

I said this else where , but applies here Too. I prefer the conduit which will bend rather than break, (take extra connectors), and it can be bent back streight if needed. Our 2002 shade was a 20 x 30 tarp held over 3 (use 4or5) bowed conduit ribs each made with 3 10' sticks of conduit held with sta...

http://www.tda3.com/pics/bman03/bman2003/tent.html Click this if you can weld, bend, and cut steel, resize and remake tarps, and are good with knots rope, and working with wood. It will tell you how to build the tents. Our camp mate Zappy found the white tarps, which are key for the shade factor, I...

target seems cheaper out west .. ours seems to price them at $10.00 each. Since our camp mate wanted his bi...

Rain?, never!?!

One trick we came up with that helps with the dust and should help with the water is that we use a 2x2 that is staked down through holes in it with rebar stakes which has the tarp screwed to it, which should help dam the water from entering through the sides and rear of the tent. We haven't used the...

we did weld and bend parts for this tent. The Tent was made for the desert sun and we wondered about what if it rained . 30 x 26 shade house with vents

we had success with a pair of structures we built this year ( 2003) one being a 20 x 16 peaked shelter we used for a sitting room and one that was 30 x 26 used to shade our private tents and the kitchen, which had a warpable vented ridge which could be set to catch the breeze. http://www.tda3.com/p...
