Thanks for the info. Good news too. We'll be in a 30ft RV so doing the speed limit should be pretty easy for us.

What about services along this stretch of highway? Looks pretty remote from the maps & aerial photos...

Traveling North on Nevada HWY 95

In the Travel Info section, under LA to BRC - Option Three: Spooky Desert ..... is says "DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THIS ROUTE. IN 2005 SEVERAL PARTICIPANTS REPORTED THAT THE TRIBAL POLICE IN SCHURZ HARASSED AND ARRESTED THEM WITHOUT PROBABLE CAUSE." Shurz would be on HWY 95. I'd like to take the 95 be...

yeah, if it wasn't for all those 6' weather ballons that always blow into the trash fences I might have had a better time last year. I say keep its altitude reasonable and secure it with steel cabling or high-test rappeling rope and you should be fine. You'll probably want the main anchor for...

a 20'x20' tent by itself is a perfect shade structure! I thought you just had a little 2 man thingy that you wanted to hide from the elements. Our 12'x20' canopy worked better than I had hoped last year. With a solid canvas roof & mosquito netting sidewalls, a very nice breeze blew thru & the canvas...

I was thinking the same thing.....your little sleeping tent is only going to take up so much space under a large tarp. The surface area of the tarp far exceeds that of a standard camping tent & the sides of the tarp would extend out & create a nice breeze area. I was thinking of staking down all sid...

Good point & good remedy. I could be completely wrong, its happened before, but I think those silver tarps would be maybe twice as much but would deflect much more heat. Using wood as anchors would sturdy it up nicely. I'm going to be building multiple wind-blocks this year by getting a 8' length of...

that was my point as well...EZ-UPS & the like are much too pricey from what I've seen. Unlike most Burners sure situation, I can't afford anything & everything either! The lean-to idea with a tarp was what I had imagined at first. That'd probably work the best out of your cheapO options. with a nice...

I've also seen those EZ-UPS going for like $500 for something small.

You could buy a dozen tarps & create an entire little villiage with 'em for that price....

yeah, you're gonna want a lot of room for things like water & food & supplies. I had a 8'x8' scizzor stylee canopy once & it folded up to be about 6 feet long by a foot & a half square. Took up a LOT of space & was HEAVY. Then after a couple of the rivets in the top fell out, it ended up looking som...

Sounds like a large tarp & 4 metal poles with guy lines would be right up your alley. That is, if all you need to do is cover your sleeping tent. Anything else would either be too much $$$ or take up way too much space. we were very lucky to find a 12'x20' canopy at Sears for $130 & that folded up t...

I had a little $30 tent as well. Didn't have any problems with it at all. Just put a 10 inch length of rebar in place of tent stakes. Although, we only slept in it once. We also had a 12'x20' canopy with nice mosquito netting sidewalls. The canopy contained 2 couches, a kitchen & a dj booth comforta...

I agree too. To me....the environment out there is so much more condusive to abstract sounds as opposed to your typical 4 on the floor beats. I mean, don't most of you go to clubs every weekend & then some anyway?? You REALLY want to spend all that $$$ and time driving out to the desert to experienc...

Keep it in its case unless you're playing it of course & everytime you finish playing, spray it down good with some of that compressed air they got for computers. You'll want a few cans of that, it works great. Did that exact thing for the turntables & mixer, even after some thick dust rolled thru &...

Whoa we don't have any domes that large! Just 1 & it's about 20 ft. Maybe you saw a fat person inside or something. I'm out in the desert almost every weekend & when it's warm enough, I'll invite a couple hundred people and some sound out. Just got back last night from some gold mine & petroglyph ex...

We'll have a good size camp with a lot of DnB coming from the turntables again.

Crave more desert?

Not exactly a "Burn" party so to speak but the Desert Sound Coalition will be throwing a jungle/reggae/ragga party FAR off into the Mojave desert - which will be very burner friendly. Many Los Angeles Burners will be in attendance so if you find yourself in that category, or would like to...PLEASE C...
