Re: DPW pulls a knife on a virgin?

This is a long thread so I did not read it all. I just did my first burn and everyone I met except for one was friendly. Me and a few virgin friends went to the blackhole not knowing what the bar was. As we went to enter a 20 somthing year old who said he worked at the gate told us to get lost and ...

Sitting here, having a coffee - thinking about my love, 3600Km away. How we met and got together in BRC, 7 years ago. Our love was easy, trust was natural, sincerity unavoidable. Distance has always been our challenge. At times we have been on different continents, different countries, opposite side...

Re: Virgin question about rv

I have driven down from Saskatchewan Canada several times. The interstate is wide and good - as others have said. Once you get to Fernley, and start heading north on 447, the road will get a bit hilly and certainly there are lots of curves. This is a single lane highway, the physics of driving a RV ...

Re: Don't stress about getting a ticket!

There is NO guarantee that you will get a ticket. Once the demand for tickets was greater than the number of tickets available - the game changed. Don't show up at the gate, expecting that "The Playa will Provide" - occasionally, that is true -but mostly, you end up pissing off the gate s...

Lost my Mom last September. Although she never made it to the burn, I know she liked hearing my stories and seeing my pictures. One of the last things that I was able to do with her was watch the Man and Temple burns through the live streams. Mom, you are a classy lady. Loving, supportive, and full ...

Re: "Burning Man's Culture is in Danger"

{snip} Selling more tickets would help at first, but the math would catch up. The more tickets sold, the more new burners created, the higher the demand is next year. It can be frustrating, but it is what it is. Burning Man is a victim of it's own success. WileE13 - The number of tickets that can b...

Congress passes BOTS Act to ban ticket-buying software

So, I just found this article on Slashdot.Org:

Congress passes BOTS Act to ban ticket-buying software

Wonder if this will impact future ticket sales in a positive way??

Hi Rice. I am flying onto Reno too. Every year I buy rebar and give it away at the end of the burn. Those aluminum stakes look great, are they difficult to find? I have seen all kinds of stuff picked up by the wind. Much damage and "wind art" is caused by the dust devils that roam through the city. I couldn't find the picture of the RV windshield with a camping table/chair embedded in it... Here is a eplaya thread on wind damage: https://eplaya.bur...

Re: How to stake guy lines

I had a buddy of mine weld a 1.5 inch piece of rebar to the top of each 1 foot piece of rebar. This made each peg simple to attach a guy wire to and could be pounded flush to the ground (aka, you can step on it with bare feet and not get hurt). Still working fine after 6 burns. I have used a Kodiak 10x14 tent at several burns. <snip> If you have the coin, I highly recommend it. What did you do for your shade structure? How did you secure it? We pounded 6 foot long T-stakes into the ground about 2 feet deep by each of the 4 legs of the shade structure, then we lashed each ...

This morning I had another Burning Man Dream... I hooked 7 of my girlfriends chickens to the small-scale dog sled (with wheels) as my art car. Darn chickens snuck off in a dust storm and swiped the flag from First Camp. They did a good job of getting around the playa though. In retrospect, t...

Re: Anyone have feedback on a Kodiak 10x10 ft tent?

I have used a Kodiak 10x14 tent at several burns. Without a shade over the tent, it gets easy-bake-oven warm as soon as the sun hits it and then gets hot from there. We had a 10x10 shade structure by the front door - with a tarp for the floor and shade cloth on two side (from the roof down 3/4 of th...
