Yeah, I was thinking if there was only one hole, that the open desert would be cool do do a walking one hole thing. That way you could walk near some installations and play around/over under (assuming that the thingy could withstand/not be damaged by flying discs. Just think of a fire hazard!!!! I a...

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Burn

-- I learned that I should not 'Go Big' on Friday Night. I could not get it together on Saturday after the Burn. Neither could the rest of my camp. -- Smaller goups when going out are best. You wait too long for everyone. I think 6 people is about the best unless you have a highly motivated leader w...

Oh and ever since Darren Emmerson did his own thing back in 2000 the band is not the same. I think some of the stuff later was cool, but yeah, perhaps Karl Hyde ought to listen to how Oakie gushes over BMan and see what it's about.

I don't know who Underworld is Trishya-- you are in for a treat! Some of the best deep trance/techno music ever are the songs off of Second Toughest of the Infants. I recommend Pearl's Girl as a prime example. Their second track on that album is a fantastic DT effort as well. Their next best effort...

Homemade

I recently made a sort of kilt out of those desk mats that allow you to roll around the office! It's less of a kilt and more of an armored skirt ala roman or so. But it should look cool with some back lighting from El Wire because it's translucent! So I'll have to have something on under it.

Repair Jobbies

Last year I made completely new grommet holes by putting duct tape on both sides and then I used the grommet repair kit. It worked quite well, allowing me to cut a whole tarp to size and reset a whole new set of grommets!

stockton to BRC

You ought to post this on the Sav Valley Burner's list on Tribe.net. In fact there is a guy in Sac who needs transport of a trike. Not sure if he needs a ride or not. His handle there is JarJar. I too am in Stockton, and while I have transport (my Nissan + a trailer), I have a full complement + anot...

Au natural

ah Balls to a Sarong. GO without , go au natural! Since my butt's whiter than a goth's forehead, I can't. I'd blind someone or get a 4th degree burn and have to sit on it for a week and that'd suck worse than the attack from the Pants Cannon. Although I think that the PC is one of the best ideas th...

1st things 1st

Get the shade up. Get the tents up. Find some random activity and for the rest of the evening, chase whatever's really shiny in close proximity to me.

I send you all tidings of good arrival weather! Not too cold, not too hot and just a light breeze. That should do the trick!

Thanks for the tip on fabric glue and the fabric store. I did that last night and found some absolutely wonderful safety orange courderoy! Though music and dancing is part of Burning Man, there is no "official" line-up. This is not a sponsored concert or rave or any other such thing. Virtually everything you see, hear, or interact with in Black Rock City is participant created. But if you are interested in finding out what other parti...

Central Cal

Yeah, I hope I won't get skinned alive for this, but, on Tribe.net, we've got a Sacramento Valley Burners Tribe. Check it out. And in fact some burners in Manteca..(I think) just had a big ole blow out (that of course I missed because I was home in Stockton having my own BMan Camp Party.) And there ...

Paintball concerns

If you could build a large enough 'arena' for it so that the stray balls didn't go out somewhere else, that would be relly fun, but hot. I would think that if you had the resources, a walled city with a mesh top could accomplish this. But the Moop aspect would take a lot of time/energy to pick up. I...

TO DO:

1) I have a one word suggestion: tensengrity (of course I probably spelled it incorrectly...and am too lazy to get the dictionary.) 2) Huge Tinker Toy-like system: I have a number of pieces like that and intend to make a modular frame thing with T-connectors and 4 way connectors for my bike. The golf cart mock up of Skylab-- one month ago. Not giving up on the Dream Machine yet... Have to test the PVC structure that will be the main shade on Saturday. And the one for the bicycle on the week after that. The rest of the time will be for finding costumes and making up hours here at work.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that lemon juice also works. Is that correct? Does one work better than the other? (I like the smell of lemons better than vinegar....)
Anything that is mildly acidic should work. Lemons definitely smell better than vinegar.

We metalcasting and welding types LOVE those coats, and covet them. Check your neighborhood surplus store for a liner, specifying one with sleeves, or if you're feeling spendy take it to a tailor. Thanks I will check out the surplus store. And hopefully someone will have one. It's gotta be thin tho...

Another Idear

I last year came upon this awesome silver/metallic overcoat that when buttoned up, looks like something straight outta the Matrix. Now my dilemna with this thing errupted when I got to the playa and wore it one night and then when I got back that night, well, my forearms were a little tingly. I come...
