This may tread on the edge of the No-Commerce Edict of the forum, but hear me out.... For two years, I had spent roundabout $3000 to print out hardcopies of my Playa Cookery, all of them handed out or left for distribution in Center Camp Cafe and Points Beyond. Over the past two years since, I've ha...

Update for Playa Cookery....

Seems some folks were asking for this, and unfortunately, the one email account I set up for this is deleted, and the link went down, and, well, here's a new link for the pdf: http://www.box.net/shared/fvj9aka4m4

I've seen at least three unconfirmed green bikes tucked into racks or stacks on RVs on the road from Reno to SF on Monday - maybe it was and maybe it wasn't, but human nature for opportunistic nicking of things that ain't bolted down colors my judgment. I like the idea of some kind of reflective ide...

I shot C-41 process black/white last year and it came out pretty good - this year I have one camera loaded with black/white and another loaded with color, both at 400 speed. Keep them bagged when not in use and avoid swapping out lenses. Your flash may end up being a problem, as the light will catch...

Seeking Newcastle in the can!

Presenting your sad and useless posting of the hour.... Last year I was shocked, shocked I tell ya, to moop an empty Newcastle can off the street, and I vowed to bring my own case this year. Well, life got underfoot, and I ain't got no Newcastle yet. The two BevMos nearby don't have them, but their ...

Rule Number One - if you can't stand to lose it, don't bring it to the playa. Beyond that, I took a 35mm SLR and a couple of bags of 35mm disposable cameras last year - I used only a single lens on the SLR, never changed it the entire time, kept a ziploc around in case of sudden winds, and always wa...

Thanks all for the comments, both here and emailed - the snark was less helpful, but to be expected. The Coleman Roadtrip (and similiar grills) are halfway between a stove and a gas grill. Just looked this up - looks interesting - lighter than a conventional gas grill, without the need for a table with standard camping stoves. Playa Cookery

So last year, as a gift, I wrote up a Playa Cookery book, printed out about a hundred copies, and dropped off handfuls of them at Center Camp Cafe and the various bars that I staggered into. They all seemed to vanish (the copies, not the bars) rather quickly, and one assumes they were used for their...
