Re: Camp FM Xmitter Allocation (HELP!) http://eplaya.burning

Thanks, SSE... between the running around unpacking last year's s shit and restocking this year's shit I am coming to the conclusion I'm not gonna have time to figure this out. Oh well... I did spectrum managemet in the military as well as transmit ham signals from military installations. I think I ...

Re: Camp FM Xmitter Allocation (HELP!) http://eplaya.burning

Well, that was a bust. The email they gave for requesting freqs ( radio-list@yahoogroups.com ) is no longer a valid yahoo recipient. So back out in the cold again.

Re: Camp FM Xmitter Allocation (HELP!) http://eplaya.burning

I just looked a little closer at the http://bmfreqs.wordpress.com/ chart... although the top of the page says 2012, the left column in the allocation chart is marked 2013. Go figure. I guess they are the guys.

Re: Camp FM Xmitter Allocation (HELP!) http://eplaya.burning

I didn't. K-SVERT has nothing for this year. Last year's was done by:

http://bmfreqs.wordpress.com/

So back to my original post - I cannot find anywhere who is coordinating the FM freqs this year. PLEASE, can somebody tell me so I don't have to bug Battalion One.

Re: Camp FM Xmitter Allocation (HELP!) http://eplaya.burning

No, this isn't an ESD or OPS thing. It's for the DJ's, camps and art installations. Here... this is an example of what I am talking about from 2011. http://www.k-svert.com/freqs/ The question I am asking is who is doing the freq coordinating this year? I need to find out if they have a freq left I c...

Camp FM Xmitter Allocation (HELP!) http://eplaya.burningman.

:!: I'm late on this but - what is the website or contact that we use for requesting FM freq allocation for Camp low-power FM transmission? I did this a few years back and it was K-SVERT but I can find anything on google for this year. Blowing the dust off the xmitters right now and hoping it's not ...

Re: Camp Emergency Radio

Good info, Phil. I agree, they don't expect you to be trained in reporting protocol... the ESD dispatch folks are professionals and they know how to make your day a little easier. Some of them actually do CAD (computer aided dispatch as used by most metro 911 centers) for a living. BRC is very fortu...

The JRS Health and Safety Issue

Damn! That issue of JRS they just put on the street about Health and Safety for this year's event is KICK ASS!
Now I know why FEMA refers to Burning Man's SOP when it's time to roll!
Bravo Zulu to the ESD folks and their fine editors.

Re: Camp Emergency Radio

That's a good question, Some Seeing Eye, and although I have a good answer I am going to yield to the folks at BM OPS. I'm an experienced radio operator both military and civilian and know what I would say but since this has to do with, what can sometimes be a life or death matter, I would rather th...

Re: Camp Emergency Radio

(I have sometimes wondered in a drunken stupor how long I would have to huff it before running, by chance, into a Ranger. I'll bet there was a study done on this that shows the average run times of a panicked burner before stumbling wantingly upon the feet of an unimpressed volunteer in one of those...

Camp Emergency Radio

(This is a post from the Burning Hams site and is good info for Camp Operations & Planning. ESD will be putting out more info on this via the JRS bulletin.) I have used the MURS radio at BM 2009 for my art installation and 2012 for my camp with positive results. I check in with ESD dispatch upon arr...

I brain-farted the pre-registration

I spaced out the window dates for the individual sales pre-registration and missed the deadline, my bust. So I am wondering, if all the 40,000 tickets don't get sold will that increase the amount available at the OMG sale? Am I now a member of that sub-human class of burners who must fester in their...

I like what w.h..s.h. wrote. I was, and still am wondering if the Temple has changed from what it originally was. I don't go back that far - 2007 was my first. But I can understand how the discreet and toned down nature of this year seeming like a depressing memorial could have been unwanted by burn...

Re: At Burning Man Nothing is Sacred. Oh, really?

Thanks, Bob. It all makes sense now (Metallica video) - the thrashing back in forth in bed when I was young. The boy praying at his bedside. Burners, you never know what they'll say next. BTW DeusRegit is an old avatar of mine from when AOL was colored text on a black DOS background. It means "God R...

At Burning Man Nothing is Sacred. Oh, really?

At Burning Man Nothing is Sacred. Oh, really? A couple of words I like to use when I describe Burners to other people are "crazies" and "stinkies". Before heading out to BRC last August I noted in my journal that this year I wasn't going to volunteer, I wasn't going to create an art installation, I ...

Savory Rumor Mill Bite

I live in a remote area of west central Nevada and BM news is pretty infrequent in this highly conservative location but here's a good one that's worth posting - I'd be real curious to know the "confidence level" on this. Re: Occupy BRC

With all due respect to an artist's originality and spontenaity aside, (and acknowleging that waiting for a theme doesn't always please the Frederico Felini within us), one fascination that brings this burner back to BRC is to marvel in the hundreds of ways artists interpret the theme and even bette...

"evolutionary" electronic wiz-bang

I need some ideas, or maye someone already has one, for a camp themed in electronica (bells & whistles). Yea, I know, BM is supposed to be earthy Bohemian clogs and star charts, but the man evolved 20 years ago and heck, even he has been wired since the early days. I'm thinking all electronic things...
