BRC Geographic location
Don't know where to post this so trying here... Is the center of BRC (yes, the Man) located the exact same spot year after year? Or to be precise: is the central spot this year gonna be the same as in 2011? We're a group we are preparing a GPS based art piece on the open playa and this may be useful...

Climate "Artivist" looking for stage / Electric Parade
Hi all I am lead organizer for the Electric Parade and GPS "CO2 painting" performance taking place on Thursday 30th August 1630h from the Man. I would like to make a presentation of the thoughts behind the concept and how we suggest to use art and culture to promote sustainable behavioral change. Do...

Re: Name Change Requests / deadline?
UUUuuuuummmm... STEP tickets are not transferable. My knowledge of the English language would imply that that means you cannot change the name on them. What shenanigans are you trying to pull? No shenanigans - just a clarifying question! Also, it is not STEP tickets we want to put back into STEP or...

Re: Name Change Requests / deadline?
The FAQs are pretty clear Option One - if you make the August 7 deadline. http://tickets2.burningman.com/faq.php#stepclose Option Two - If you don’t make the deadline then you can sell them and transfer them over if they are at will call http://tickets2.burningman.com/faq.php#elsepickup That was fa...

Re: CORE 2012
Seriously, does any one know if the area around the Man will be sealed off on Thursday - and if so from what ?
I want to send out an invitation to meet at the man at 16:30h but not much fun if the place is closed off

Name Change Requests / deadline?
Will it be possible to request a name change after STEP closes 7th August?
And in case I don't have a new ticket holder before STEP closes can I supply the new ticket holder with documentation, id copies etc so he/she can then settle things at the Will Call Office?

Re: CORE 2012
early saturday morning is the usual time, as I recall. You refer to the burning of the man Saturday night? As I understand it the CORE effigies will be set on fire already Thursday at 9pm. We are planning a meet-up and parade from the man Thursday at 1630h and I was wondering if this collided with ...

I understand the CORE projects will be lit at 9pm Thursday and that the area around the Man will be sealed off some time before.

Parade of human and renewable energy powered transportation
ALERT MODERATORS: We know who you are.. Yes. This project is debated on the 2012 MV forum but it also involves bikes, pedestrians and several known zombies. Not only MVs. So please don’t move this thread. And for all people using renewable energy based transportation at Burning Man. Attention. We wa...

Re: Parade of renewable energy powered vehicles
I thought this was a "renewable-energy-powered vehicle" parade? So now you're just diluting it to a "non-gasoline engine parade" despite the fact that the batteries are usually charged by gasoline-powered generators? Or do you consider a battery "renewable energy" because you can recharge it? This ...

Re: Parade of renewable energy powered vehicles
Way to miss the entire point of 5280MeV's post. The ultimate irony is what you chose to quote from it as well. Okay. Looks like you and I won't get to see eye to eye on this thing. Fair enough. We are inviting MVs whose onboard engine is not gasoline powered. I can't put it any more plain than that.

Re: Parade of renewable energy powered vehicles
I have a question about your route- MV's are supposed to stay off the streets unless they're on their way to the open playa. You might want to check with someone at the org about the "c" part of the parade. From the Driving Rules in Black Rock City portion of vehicle protocols : No driving on pedes...

Re: Parade of renewable energy powered vehicles
How many miles do you get on a charge on an old golf cart or whatnot? Are battery swaps in the spirit of the parade? If the parade is about CO2 emissions, then I cannot imagine that golf-carts being charged on generators would be in the spirit of the parade. Battery powered vehicles would definitel...

Re: Parade of renewable energy powered vehicles
To turn the two cents worth I already threw out there into three cents nobody asked for... Yes, by all means, go have your parade. I'm with Elliot on that. But the truth about mutant vehicle construction is most are built using whatever was readily available. Most electric ones are so because someo...

Re: Parade of renewable energy powered vehicles
This would be more interesting to me from the perspective of what weird and alternative engines can power vehicles on the playa, without any reference to their environmental superiority - real or perceived. A fun parade showing what goofy things can be used as fuel, not necessarily because it is th...

This would be a great discussion if it weren't for the hostility. Arh shoot, sorry if I have come across as a hard hat. That wasn't my intention and no offense taken. Yes, this is an interesting debate. Look forward to learn what drivers of alternative fuel powered MVs have to say about the subject !

H2S might be doable if you flip 90 degrees clockwise and use the Center Camp ring roads.

Re: Parade of renewable energy powered vehicles
At the end of the day it comes down to perspective. One perspective is that a lot of energy is used in connection with Burning Man. Energy that would not have been used if Burning Man was not there. End of story. Burning Man = bad for the environment. Another perspective is that whatever actually co...

Re: Parade of renewable energy powered vehicles
Burning Man is quite possibly the worst vehicle for promoting renewable energy imaginable. So what you're saying is that Burning Man celebrates mindless consumption and that's it? That it's a laugh-worthy, myopic, dipshit idea to even suggest using what's going on at Burning Man to inspire the defa...

Most people consider ethanol a biofuel in the usa, while it is actually counter efficient. Re: Parade of renewable energy powered vehicles
I'd rather that alternative energy vehicles make their statements through their art and just being awesome mutant vehicles. Why would a parade make them any less awesome mutant vehicles? Besides, the CO2 painting is a statement using artistic tools. Why not frame this in terms of what you personall...

Re: Parade of renewable energy powered vehicles
All I'm really saying is it doesn't matter. Parade some electric mutant vehicles around at Burning Man. I just think it's going to accomplish nothing but making yourself feel better about all the fuel we burn to go out there and play. The rest of the world considers Burning Man a joke, a bunch of h...

Re: Parade of renewable energy powered vehicles
@Bob: Well, as I have heard it said there is no such thing as an ideology-free zone. If there were, that would be an ideology. Having said that, I am not arguing that a parade of alternative fuel powered vehicles necessarily represents THE ideology to unite all burners. Of course, not. If you don't ...
