in the end

Well, like I said, he decided not to go in the end and it was the right thing to do. I had an amazingly good time with all my great friends and though I was dissapointed to not have him there, it really was for the best. He had painted a beautiful sign for our camp, which had at the front of our cam...

Yeah..... think I'll stick with Nair, thanks. No need to time my breath or use drugs. I guess I just thought one Tylenol was preferable to smearing that nasty hair-dissolving bad-smelling chemical all over your delicates. (what's in that stuff anyway?) My suggestion to go to a pro was only if you w...

Well, it looks like I'm gonna go with the Nair just beforehand and let it go the rest of the week. I did break down and buy home waxing strips but doubt I'll make it past one before freaking out. Last time I tried waxing my legs I swore for a half hour and made my husband promise to never ever let ...

resolution

So....thought I'd close the loop on this on: he's not going to Burning Man at all. The relationship itself wasn't really the issue, it was more everything else going on in his life (which all contributed to the relationship's demise). It's just too overwhelming for him so I think he's finally done t...

Maybe part of your agreements for appropriate action can be "No discussion of relationship within camp boundaries", to keep things nice for the camp mates... Can't remember seeing it in anyone else's comments, but have you two considered doing some sort of closure ceremony for this past stage of yo...

Why not post a picture? See how many camp offers you get. From friends you have'nt met yet. . OOOrrr the other way around. That's me over in the corner. But no, I really want to camp with my friends. I've worked too hard at putting the camp together to not get to enjoy it. I know it may not sound l...

..I know and I'm trying to overcome it. Really. Ask yourself how important your own integrity is to you. Ron Oh I am. 1. Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code. 2. The state of being unimpaired; soundness. 3. The quality or condition of being whole or undivided; completeness. They al...

Babe, I'm sure you are very sweet, but think about how selfish and self-destructive this sounds.

Just bring him. With 38,000 people on the playa if things self-destruct between you it's not like you can't find distractions and diversions to immediately transport you away from all the drama. It could end up being a catalyst that repairs the relationship too. The playa has a funny way of causing...

Okay, so at least now it's confirmed: I'm crazy. Unfortunately, it doesn't make me want to do it any less, despite all the awesome advice (and really I do appreciate the advice). But yeah, it's still up in the air and yeah, I know I'm being a doormat. And of course everything I'm hearing is exactly ...

OK, so here's the question. Do you want to get back together with this guy in a committed, monogamous, relationship? If yes, go to the burn with him. If no, pull yer head out and ferggit about it. Because that's what you're really talking about here, getting back together again. The duration is irr...

drat. i guess things aren't looking good in terms of y'all saying what i want to hear. wishful thinking will only get me so far, i guess.

All good advice. And I knew I'd answer my own question with "Yes, I am crazy." Still need to chat with the ex about it and come to an agreement about what's best. Foolhardy perhaps but we'll see. I think I've put the fear of god in him already that he'll be left to die on the playa so maybe he'll be...

well, as usual, divided opinoins. just to be clear though, the idea does NOT include bringing others into the mix. we'd have to agree that that was not an option so as to try to maintain a stable camp for both of us and for the rest of my camp.

Ex-boyfriend in my camp: Am I crazy?

So my relationship is unravelling as we speak and it seems fairly certain that we'll break up. However, he and I were (are?) planning on going to the playa together, this has been the plan for months. He has never been before; this will be my 5th year. We've been together since February and the spli...

yep. we actually built a solar oven my first year out there and baked chocolate chip cookies in it. but it assumes pretty constant sunlight (yeah, it's the desert but we had trouble keeping the temp steady with the cookies) as well as people who can be counted on to have decent carpenter skills.

yeah, pre-playa prep is a possibility. (so is alliteration, apparently). the only problem, besides the freezing bit, is that i actually like doing some of the cooking on the playa. there's something really satisfying about whipping up a big delicious meal out there. i was even considering using thos...

Ideally, I think I'll do one veggie and one meaty per day and just let folks graze.

Crockpots on the Playa

So I've convinced myself that the low-maintenance route to feeding 25-odd campmates is so bring up a couple of crock pots and use them cook healthy, easy, yummy meals. We're planning several elaborate sit-down meals but for the off-nights, I think it'll be nice to have a warm bowl of stew-y deliciou...
