Thanks, Stuart... I may chat with him to see if he's down for leaving later. Leaving at 3:00 a.m. gives us 21 hours before we can even get through the gate. Thanks for sharing your travel time!

My husband is fluent in mandarin (born and raised in Taiwan). He'd love to help out. Why don't you pm me with details you want to share with her (this is my first year, and hubby is not going - not his gig!), and we can set up a phone call. I see you're from Palo Alto - we were JUST there visiting m...

Thanks guys. I told my daughter I would do whatever they wanted, as they have done this before, so like you said, I'll just head out and enjoy the ride. He has us traveling up the 5 so there's plenty of food/rest stops. See ya there!

Travel time from LA?

Yet another question... This is my daughters and my first time at BM, and we are caravaning with a guy who went last year, and a couple that has been a few times before. He wants to leave Santa Clarita, CA (just north of Los Angeles) at 3:00 a.m. Sunday. Now when I "google map" the drive, it says th...
no, no, no. Monkey huts aren't out of style, it's monkey BUTT's that are out this year, sheesh!
Oh thank god! I saw several nude photos from prior years! **re-packs monkey hut, un-packs forks for gouging eyes out**

EB - love that post! My main reason to candy cane it was to attach the sides of my monkey hut to the loop. However, I have since found some steel 15" stakes with hooks that I'm going to use. SOOOOO glad I didn't do the candy-caning. Oh, and pleeeeze let me know if monkey huts go out of style! Ahahaha!

Bending Rebar??

Okay, I need some help. I'm trying to find some place to get my rebar candy-caned, and no one so far offers that service. I would have thought the Home Depots and Lowe's of the world would have it available, but alas, I was wrong. Anyone know where I can get this done?
TIA!

My first burn too! Taking my 16 year old daughter, but plan to meet up there with a friend of hers that went last year ( a strapping boy, so I've got some man power to help set up camp!) A few others are going in separate vehicles, so I'm hoping we can drive in together or at least know everyone's w...

Thanks, guys!

Thanks for the advice! We've read through the "survival guides", looked at probably every picture taken there, and have our lists started. (of course, my list is the practical food, water, camping supplies, and her list is costumes, bike decor, burnable art and such!) She has a friend who went last ...

First time burner!

Hi all! My name is Cathy, and live in Southern California. My 16 year old daughter and I are headed to Burning Man this year! (Hubby is not the LEAST bit interested!) My daughter is so excited about going, and after checking into it, I have to say I'm really looking forward to it too! We're driving ...
