Re: Organic Toilet Vendor Legit and OSS Approved?

Not recommending or dissing one way or the other. Just presenting info. This was the response when I mentioned that only approved OSS vendors would be allowed and that I would not commit to anything like this unless info comes from the BMORG about it.

The immediate response to my comment on their facebook page about them not appearing on the Approved list of OSS vendors :

Hi Dave, I'm ______, the Social Media lady for ________. I'm checking in about this.... Hang tight!

Uh huh...

Organic Toilet Vendor Legit and OSS Approved?

I'm seeing info pop up on Facebook about a company offering rental organic toilets with specific marketing targeted at Burning Man camps. This company, whom I shall not name at this time in order to not run afoul of eplaya guidelines, apparently made quite a splash at the Oregon Eclipse with their t...

Is the $1200 Ticket Sale Over?

I have friends who were in the debacle that was the OMG sale and of course got nothing. As of last week, there was a link to purchase $1200 tickets in my burner profile. I no longer see that link, so are those tickets now gone?

Street Names for 2018

Perhaps it is a sign of the times that I can't locate a thread for the list of the Street Names for 2018, which at one point were a subject of much speculation leading up to the event. It is no surprise that they are names of famous and infamous robots. Esplanade Algorithm Bender Cylon Dewey Elektro...

Re: DGS instructions go out yet?

In mid-January, there was an email sent to me as camp leader to say that in 2017 our camp had met the 7 criteria and that we are in Good Standing with the Placement team and will be included in the sale again this year. No info on numbers of tickets or when further info would be forthcoming but pres...

Re: 2017 BLM Inspection Info Delay

Another month has passed and it would appear there is to be no further posting on the Moop Map subject via the Black Rock Journal for this past season. Apparently, for whatever reason, it has been decided that it is not important that we know the results of the BLM Inspection, at least not directly ...

Re: 2017 BLM Inspection Info Delay

The post yesterday on the moop map blog says they are looking forward to the inspection. Patience...... Hi Ratty. WADR, the post was written weeks ago and just got published on the BRC Journal on Nov 2. The coordinated MOOP sweep was completed on Sept 23. and in his writing about that day, Slim ind...

Thank you. It would be more of a surprise if we hadn't passed given how good the map has looked during the process. The lag in reporting this by BMORG makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Re: 2017 BLM Inspection Info Delay

Politics and regime change notwithstanding, in Slim's last accounting on Day 6 of the MOOP sweep by Resto on Sept 23 , he indicated they had about a week left in which to sweep other areas of the city. In my mind, that leads me to believe that the BLM inspection was scheduled for around the 1st of O...

2017 BLM Inspection Info Delay

I'm a little puzzled by the lack of any mention here on eplaya about the substantial delay in releasing BLM Inspection info from this year. In 2016, the BLM Inspection took place in the first week of October and is shown to have been delayed a day by weather. We were told those results on October 7 ...

Re: Old and Cynical

I watched a couple of DPW / BMORG vehicles pass thru the blockade with little challenge and also saw a few attendees just plow thru it, although they were jeered at severely. It was good, light-hearted playa theatre done correctly. Most people were a bit befuddled by it but for the most part played ...

Post Burn depression or at least a deep lull in one's emotional state is very normal. Even after a number of years in a row of going and knowing it's coming... the depression and "postpartum" anxiety is very real for me, some years far worse than others. Without you so much as saying it, it also sou...

Re: eBikes and Burners who Ride them

I will admit to being a rather sedentary (lazy) individual when it comes to physical exercise. Three years ago I bought one of the first Sondors electric bikes when the offer came up on GoFundMe (or whatever site it was). Pedaling a regular bicycle on the playa was never an easy endeavour for me, es...

Re: Time on the Playa.

I'm fortunate to have a good internal clock that is within 15-20 minutes most of the time, even on the playa. However, I do have some volunteer shifts that start at specific times, so we also have a small wall clock in our kitchen area. It was gifted to us by a camp friend a few years ago and has a ...
