Made my day
Wow, this made my day! I was hoping there'd be blues somewhere on the playa. And I've been meaning to learn some Tango. Now I just hope I save some time to see the rest of Burning Man.

Here's the stats
Here's the results from a weather station in Gerlach. http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=MD1623&day=9&year=2009&month=6&graphspan=month It appears the playa has received 1.3 inches of rain in June. That's a pretty good amount. Hope the playa is dry for the 4th of July.

Switch Drivers
Admittedly, I come and go via RV, but this is what I've done the past couple of years and it seems to work great: Get one of the people who I've given a ride to who normally would never drive an RV and let them drive from Barbie Death Camp to Gerlach (Hiway 34 actually). I lie down and sleep like a...

Yes
OK, for the first serious post: I think the default world is moving closer to BM faster than BM is moving closer to the default world. BM looks so mainstream in large part because the mainstream looks so Burning Man. Think back to the early to mid 90's when BM was in it's early years: electronic dan...

Not a bad suggestion
Pretty good suggestions. Here's another one: Move the event to earlier in the week, say Tuesday or Wednesday. There's always the complaint that hoards of frat boys are making it uncomfortable for the riders. Well, then stop holding it on Friday. Sure, you may lose some women who don't get to BM unti...

Always overstated
The one thing you can count on is that the BM rumor mill will always overstate the number of deaths and, in this year's case, create ones where none exist. I remember a couple years ago being solemly told by someone "who had a friend in EMS" that 5 people had died on the playa that year. The gruesom...

Express lane
the express lane will never happen IMHO and would only cause many virgins to miss out. Exactly. Picture Joe Blow who's never been to BM. He just waited an hour at Gate and is now in another line for what, he doesn't know. All he knows is that his ticket has already been torn, so he must be at Burni...

creepy old guys
This was my second year as a greeter and it makes my burn. So fun. ANd the greeters are a phenomenal group of people. The only drawback is this one long time greeter guy who is really creepy. I found myself trying to body block him from the women who came through. I have seen this dude make people ...

Better way to handle it
We had a woman in our camp who lasted about 36 hours. Didn't like the heat, was unimpressed with the art, didn't like the vibe. To her credit, she realized she was miserable and simply packed up and went home, so we didn't have to deal with her the rest of the week. In hindsight, you may have made t...

won't work
Is there some reason we cant have 3 exits? One that goes to Trego/Jungo with traffic control to keep people from going toward Gerlach from that way, one for people headed south to Reno/Wadsworth and one that is for people heading north. This has been suggested time and again, and it just won't work...

Under the hood is $70
Yep, $200 for under the hood is excessive, but given the description of their washing, I'm guessing it's not just under the hood that still needed cleaning. If it is, then yes, $200 is excessive. If they left dusty residue throughout the vehicle then it may cost around that for a large vehicle to g...

To give you the straight answer: no one at Gate gives a shit about your drugs, and there are no cops up at the gate unless they were called there to deal with some dickwad. They have some really cool stuff though!!! Perfect for the man who needs to buy goggles for burning man and also buy a lexan podium for his Megachurch's camp at burning man.... Little extra room in cars
You seem to think that there are a bunch of people driving up empty or nearly empty cars that can be encouraged to carpool. Someone did a version of this several years ago. He was dropped naked, with no water or gear at the man. Someone else was following him with a video camera. He was not allowed to ask for anything, he had to survive only on what was offered to him. I never did see the resulting video, but supposedly...

You're absolutely right. That's why I've arranged for a hotel room in which to meet the 15-year-old girl I met online and have been sending naked pictures to. Since I didn't send her any money, nothing can possibly go wrong.
